Oh please oh please oh please continue this series past season 5 into the next set of novels. Here in the states we are IN LOVE with you all! Also I love that Debbie is the only writer, it wouldn't be the same without that. Brilliant! Just as an aside, as a communicationally challenged yankee, watching Poldark (twice all the way through, OF course) has made me a better human being, esp. in my communication. And I'm that glad. :)

Anne Dudley music plays such an essential part in Poldark. I don’t think the scenes would have the same impact on our emotions without it. The opening of the blue dress is a prime example Wow

But, in my opinion, Debbie Horsfield have destroyed the story. The dialogues that Debbie writes are horribles. She ever wants to be more spectacular and more dramatic and the characters are lost.

Well, I was a big fan of the original series. Got the VHS tapes and everything. But you're right. I didn't know they'd even remade _Poldark_ until I stumbled on it on our local PBS station just before it went on the air for the first time in the US. I was shocked and thrilled at the same time. After all, the 70s were quite a while ago, and as you say, technology didn't quite measure up to what we have today to film those gorgeous Cornwall locations. I wondered whom they'd gotten to play Ross, of course. As soon as that first scene came on during the American Revolution and I saw who was playing him and how he was performing the role, I thought to myself _This is gonna be _*_good!_* And I was right! I've since seen Aidan Turner in his London stage play last year, _The Lieutenant of Inishmore,_ and he was simply fabulous. Plus, I've seen just about everything else he's done on film. I feel quite fortunate to have discovered him. Before _Poldark,_ I'd never heard of him, living in California, and I'm quite grateful for the whole thing.

Debbie Horsfield chose Adian Turner to play Ross based on his performance in Desperate Romantics as Rossetti. Turns out it was an excellent choice. However, given that Ross and Demelza have passionate personalities their love scenes should have reflected that. The controversial bedroom scene with Elisabeth should have had more passion and less aggression (IMO)

I thought it was all just fine. And there was a method in her madness with the love scenes as we find as the series goes on, especially into the fourth season-well, I won't give anything away, but perhaps you've noticed. This is an unusual love story in that it's just the opposite of most of them. A nice change, if you ask me. And as far as what happened with Elizabeth, well, again, I have to disagree. It made sense to me just the way they did it.

Yes, it made sense to me too how they did that between Ross and Elizabeth. Seems like they really captured Ross's anger at her and her anger at him, while still showing the passion between them. Lust and anger are very very connected in the human soul. Lust is really about self glorification, and power. There were things in their personalities that would definitely not have been compatible overall. Don't know how those characters were written in the novels, but in the movie I thought it made perfect sense their relationship through that scene was protrayed that way.
