You are doing a good job teaching your son to paint his car. It makes me a little bit anxious telling your son what he is doing wrong when he is painting. When I was young and my dad was alive he would scream at me and would grab the gun away from me and not tell me what I was doing wrong. I almost relive those days. Props to you.👍

The VoTech school in my district did the paint & body work on my 1960 F-100. I had to help sand & prime for 4 Saturdays while the students worked all week. We painted it with Krylon rattle cans. The instructor invented a handle that clipped on the cans. Damn near the same as shooting with a pro gun. We clear coated, but as hard of paint as yours. Cannot kill tractor paint. 25 years & my pickup still looks good though. White on top & ford blue on the bottom & white interior.

I think the wheels that are on look great. However, I was going to suggest some old cragar 5 spokes (or knock offs), but the Goat already has those. I'm really not sure of any other style wheel that would look right on that car. Maybe some black steelies with chrome beauty rings and chrome baby moon hub caps. Paint the black the same color blue or white to match the car. Honestly, probably white since the bottom is already blue.

Love what you are doing and you are doing a terrific job teaching JD - people’s voices tend to go up an octave when paint starts flying, but you are very patient with him. My recommendations for rolling stock: Low Buck- gloss black steelies with baby Moons and turn the white letters black wall out. High Buck - chrome reverse (spiders optional) with a set of one inch whitewalls. The paint colors says “early ‘60’s” to me and both those wheel tire combos were in vogue then.

Best way I've found to avoid bugs is to paint just as the sun comes up, the air is still, and the bugs seem to go to bed and aren't attracted to light as much. Plus it's not as hot when you spray, and as the day warms up it will help the paint dry

My Dad was a car painter and this brings back lots of memories of summers I spent helping him 55-60 years ago. That was back in the days of lacquer and buffing. The old Ford turned out awesome.

What a blessing by God to have a son to share your knowledge with. He is doing great! My son didn't take interest in my automotive passion until he was 15. I now have several grandsons to pass on knowledge from myself spending my entire life in the industry and hobbies. . You're an excellent dad and instructor. One day he will be teaching You some new tricks!! Bless yall brother.

My buddy did his 50 Ford truck with the same paint. He then cleared it and used ebay flakes in the clear for a really cool custom paint job on the cheap. Nice job!

Fun video. I am 69 years old, reminds me of working with dad. And how I got my start. I started as the air hose holder. And watched every move he made. GOOD JOB BOYS.
