Columbus police officers shot and killed a man suspected of threatening several people with a knife, according to a statement released by the department.
The officers gave the man, later identified as Noel Hernandez, commands in both English and Spanish to show his hands and drop the weapon, but he ignored the commands police said.
Police say investigators have not determined whether the man the officers shot was suffering from a mental health issue.The incident was the sixth fatal shooting involving Columbus police officers in 2024.
