I live in Waukesha County unreal what Darrell Brooks did in 3 minutes. 6 dead and 68 badly injured. I know all these officers 👮‍♂️ what an amazing coordination of a huge scene.

There isn’t much of a difference between life sentence without parole and the death penalty aside from extra procedural time and cost. Most people on death row don’t make it that far anyways.

The suspect reported others being in the car. I'm sure he was saying he wasn't driving and the officers didn't believe him and were probably confident he was the only one. But on such a critical incident which was going to become a huge story they want to get everything right so they are going to go off what they have until it is confirmed wrong.

there was footage of several black men near the SUV afterwards. Brooks has always tried to leave people to believe there were more in the car...but what difference does it make if they were passengers? He had kidnapped his estranged girlfriend only moments before and beat her, but friends intervened and got her to safety...Brooks has always blamed her, although she was a victim of his abuse for 16 years.

From what I understood many people were running down the street and some of them may have appeared to be running from the vehicle implying that they were in it when they actually weren't.

They’re human. Those emergency personnel never experienced anything like this and probably personally saw innocent people killed.

@@juliemodun4149 the dispatcher wasn't having to look at mangled children and old people laying in the road. Theres a reason why they arent discussing injuries in the trial. It's bc the injuries were so horrific that the DA isn't even trying to include those details. It's not needed to convict him. That info usually isn't. DAs usually choose to use the horrific details to shock the jury. This DA isn't. That's how bad things were. Those kids and old ladies were truly mangled. The ones that survive went through many surgeries to try to piece their bodies back together. It's a miracle that so many survived. When u have to face that in your job then u can make jokes about those that do. You're the one that goes running the other direction to save yourself while u leaving dying children behind u. Those cops didn't run away and they caught him within 20 mins even tho he had abandoned the car. You call them barney fife but even barney fife had more balls than u do. Even barney fife would've gone into situations that would have u crying for your mommy. The lowest level cop out there is still several levels above u. That one fat dude that all police depts have tho he's not even capable of helping anymore is above u. He would do more good in an emergency than u.

60+ people were hit within minutes. 6 were killed. At the moment, everything was chaotic. They’re emotions got the best of them because of all types of people where hit. Kids, elderly, women and men. calm down you said? Those officers probably had their some family members at the parade and probably thought they’d be picking them up too. They’re trained to deal with incidents, but even all of this was too much for them.

You can hear in the beginning of the recording that Brooks ran through a guarded police barricade to enter the parade route. Not sure what else they could have done?

You really think the local Police, County, State, City, and nearby agencies are all going to do that for every parade? Frankly, that’s completely unrealistic and impractical. It was a Christmas parade in a relatively small city. Not the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC. I live here, and the Police had it adequately barricaded.

Where have you ever seen a parade route closed down any better than this one was? They used barricades, officers, etc., at entry points and had the roads closed. That has been standard procedure for decades (I have worked dozens of parades as a LEO).

They had the normal barricades up but the ones they had weren't designed for stopping cars. Only to let cars know the road is closed. Unfortunately with stuff like this no one expects it until it happens. We've never had someone intentionally drive all the way up the full length of a parade intentionally hitting people. All the tech we have to stop bad guys has been designed after a bad guy did something horrific. The same is true for this situation. Theyve been given federal funds to design and test mobile barricades that can stop cars. Theyve done it. The new barricades look like more compact versions of the white spiked barricades the military bases use. They can easily be deployed by police to fully enclosed a parade route and theyve been tested to be able to stop a semi. They used them with the memorial day parade in waukesha and people came for the parade. They seemed comforted by the barricades. They will be having the Christmas parade this year but they've changed the date for one that they will have more resources with fire, police, and medical. They are doing it after Thanksgiving for that reason. Theyve changed locations as well. I agree with that bc it shouldn't be done in the same spot out of respect and emotional health of the survivors. I'm sure planning for blocking off the route went into play in picking a spot that'll be the best possible. I haven't seen the new route yet but I'm hoping they pick a path that doesn't go through an enclosed area like the original route. People couldn't escape bc they were in the enclosed space of downtown and if u look at the people hurt and killed they were all within that enclosed area of downtown. No one was hurt in the open areas of the parade route tho he drove through there. People could more easily get away in the open areas. Downtown was like him shooting fish in a barrel tho. Horrific.
