You can run but you can’t hide! Having failed to stop and fled from his vehicle, a suspect was found hiding in a large pond by our drone pilot. The pilot noticed a heat source in the water and directed officers to the area.
Initially the driver had run from Springbank Drive in Bourne, Lincolnshire, through a housing estate and entered a water-filled ditch. He got out the other side of the ditch and ran across a busy road into woodlands. He found a well-hidden large pond and tried to submerge himself. Around 25 minutes later our drone pilot picked up a heat source in the water and eventually gave himself up.
He was suffering from the cold and received medical attention. He was arrested and has subsequently been bailed pending further inquiries.
