--------------
On March 7th, 2023, an officer was called by school staff in reference to a drunk minor who had been misbehaving and was very uncooperative. She had also hidden a bottle of alcohol in her pocket and wasn’t taking it out. Even after the officer warned her, the female continued to verbally abuse him and the staff constantly. The female persistently showed resistance and verbally abused everybody in the room. Soon, the female's mother arrived and engaged in a heated argument with the staff and the officer. Another officer arrived at the scene and tried to understand the situation from the reporting officer. Since the female was a minor, the officer gave her the option to be released on citation if she behaved. The other officer explained to the female’s mother what had happened. The mother became defensive and attempted to justify her daughter’s actions. The female continued to complain about the handcuffs. Later, the female’s mother called the police department to file a complaint about the officer’s behavior. The female was charged with battery on a school personnel, resisting and minor in possession of alcohol.

obviously so did your mother. She forgot to teach you how to not judge others online lol. Because no one is perfect. Anyone would react the way she did if teachers and principals are reaching for your private area instead of waiting on her mother . Her mom was on speaker they heard she was on her way but yet used unnecessary aggressive force on a 13 yr old female teen. Its an awful situation but the way the cop handled it and then lied about what happened on camera. Making the 13 year old seem like she attacked her principal for her phone when we all just seen that never happened. And the school faculty to say " Well Im not going to fight you for it" but proceeded to have 4 or 5 adults hold her down and forcefully search her without a parent there is fucking insane for a bottle smaller then a 5th of alcohol thats crazy man. If it was a weapon or drugs or she was physically attacking faculty then I would understand.

@@Saleigh with a mother like hers, I highly doubt there will be any change for the good. She is 13 years old, drunk at school and facing her first felony charge. Where do you think her life and future will lead when the felony charges start to pile up? She won’t be able to get state licensing to do anything productive with her future or earn a decent living thus the blaming and not taking responsibility will continue until the gavel comes down and she goes away on state paid holiday. We can hope all we want, but it’s a very sad state of affairs that a lot of young people make early on due to enablers who have been guilted into allowing them to behave this way. She should have been sent to a mental hospital to start getting help, not released to a codependent “mother”.

Yes, and the expectations for kids in school can be so low as well. The teachers or school staff were engaging with this girl while her behavior is completely absurd. They were arguing with her...no, that behavior doesn't get attention as educators. I used to work as a behavioral specialist, and was with behaviorally and emotionally troubled children to put it nicely. Reinforce appropriate behavior, and do not reinforce the inappropriate. I would not have put energy into engaging with a drunk 13 year old. Simple commands and consequences and until she can speak with respect and treat people as humans she gets ignored. That goes for the mother too.

On some level, I feel badly for this girl. She's been failed, to varying degrees, by parenting, family, school and other influences in her life. A lot of this is on her but we are all products of our environment to some extent. Mom's defense and complaining only serves to bolster her behavior, unfortunately. This young woman is facing a heap of trouble and the likelihood of her being successful in life is not looking great. Hopefully she figures it out, that this isn't the life that she wants, and shows the maturity to be decent human being for a change. Perhaps this is just a sad blip in her life. There is no doubt the next few years will be affected by the decisions she made this day but as she becomes an adult her slate will be wiped clean. She has a chance to do right and not be with the wrong people or on the wrong side of the law for most of her life. I always want to see the good in people, best of luck to her.

As well as the law, she only got battery charges? That’s insane given her behavior. Her mother has a twisted view of love if she thinks she’s getting a future with that behavior and does nothing about, but rather encourages it. She’ll have no problem doing it again, this girl needs jail times and probation. Here in the state of Kansas you can get your drivers licenses suspended before you can even get a license if caught drinking under age. No driving under the influence needed.

agree and the fact that she called the pd to file on the officer is shameful. I think the mother needs to be brought in and made to watch the video of her daughter and explain how her daughter is such a good daughter can act like that. The fact that she also allowed her daughter to get on the phone and run her mouth off. I guess that says a lot on how she sees her daughter and having her see the bodycam footage would do nothing and most likely would not see the truth any way

Also, take another look at the cops take down of this tiny girl, she was not actively threatening anyone or ‘squaring off’ like he claimed when he retold the events to his supervisor.(4:55) she was pushing back her hair and he got butt hurt because she was calling him names. There was no reason for him to tackle her. Plus at one point there are SEVEN adults in that room while they were trying to recover the bottle, and not one of them was the mom. Everyone here blaming mom - I guess you have forgotten what you were like at 13 (perfect people need not comment), or how hard it was for your mom to have an independent teen, or maybe she’s a single mom, or works nights or who knows - lots of judging going on but not pointing the finger in the right direction. Mom (or dad) should have been the first one in that office, way before the cop ever stepped foot inside. This event did nothing to help this girl. It isn’t teaching her a lesson (other than to hide her drink better), it didn’t ask why or what prompted her to do this, address the issue of right and wrong or reinforcing the fact that the school is a safe resource for kids if they needed. Instead, it just added another barrier between law enforcement and this girl, she won’t feel comfortable ever turning to any of these adults in the future, and has isolated her further ensuring more incidents like this in her future.
