I think that I am going to have to watch this 12 times, but when I get finished I really do have a hope that I will understand. Which is more hope than I feel about prepositions and their accompanying cases. Plus I've been reading lots of KZfaq comments with these lovely little prefixes, so I'll have lots of practice...:-)

Najczęściej przedrostki uściślają znaczenie słowa podstawowego, np paść, upaść, wypaść, wpaść... Wszystkie łączą się z szybkim ruchem w dół. Ale życie wyrazów może doprowadzić do rozwinięcia się całkiem różnych znaczeń. Np kazać, przekazać, okazać, wykazać mają znaczenia z sobą niezwiązane.

There are few meanings. In literal sense it means the same as 'zajść' in the meaning of 'go as far as', but it sounds little bit oldfashioned: 'uszedł ledwie 10 metrów', 'he went only as far as 10 meters'. You can use it towards gas or air leakage, so when something is losing this gas you say 'gaz uchodzi', so it is 'going out' of the container. It can also have metaphorical meaning in 'uszło ci to na sucho', literally 'you came dry out of it', meaning you avoided dealing with consequences of you actions.

'iść' to chyba najgorszy czasownik, który można było wybrać XD. Ma tyle idiomatycznych znaczeń, że wygląda na to, że przedrostki nadają nowe znaczenie czasownikowi. Tymczasem tak nie jest - przedrostki w wyjątkowych sytuacjach mogą nadawać idiomatyczne znaczenie, ale mają też charakter regularny, ogólny. I właśnie to o ten regularny charakter chodzi. A jak już o chodzeniu mowa, coś cię może obchodzić, bo o to chodzi, a nie dlatego, że to chodzi, albo, że ty chodzisz - nauczmy się najpierw przedrostków, a potem idiomów, które są z nimi czasem związane.

I have to admit I don't mostly watch your videos because as much as they are easy, some are easier. However I've been coming across these little prefixes lately and so I was curious. And I started to play the video and then music started and I actually had to pause the video to make sure my phone wasn't ringing or an alarm wasn't going off in my house. There are so many noises these days! One day my doorbell rang for a few minutes before I figured out what it was. And one day my doorbell rang and my roommate ignored it because he didn't know it was the doorbell. So the purpose of my initial sentence was to point out that I don't know if you guys do this with music in all of your videos, but maybe don't? If you've been doing it for years I don't have a lot of hope. :-) sorry for the intrusion. Let me go see what I can learn from watching this.

Yes, you learn and learn, but in the end, you discover that the meaning of this prefix+verb is different because of the context. Learning prefixes is not sufficient as you have to know all possible meaning and when or how to use them. 1- Difficulties of Polish language came from the fact that everything changes its meaning based on the CONTEXT. Frustrating and lost 😒 In addition that not all verbs accept all prefixes. 2- The difficulty of Polish language came from that ... more irregularities > generally. Ahh, you have to go back to the future. Be a child and learn what Poles learn 😌 ✨️ 3 - For non-slavic, it's barely impossible to compose a big sentence correctly . Why ? The way of composing is not like any other language, for example, "English" 4- You enter any class Polish class and when it arrives to Dative they all tell you it's not used that much , it's rare ,,,, but the fact as foreigner I hear it every single day and many times times 😂. 5- The most weird part about learning Polish is that all classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Why ? Can anyone explain 🤔?

Iść and chodzić are not differentiated by jednorazowość and iteratywność. In order to have iść you need two things: 1) going in one direction 2) towards a goal. If you have those two things, even if you do it everyday, it will be iść. For everything else you use chodzić.
@mylocz643
@mylocz643 Жыл бұрын
Using "iść" in present in iterative sense is quite unusual. Maybe the problem is that iterativeness of "chodzić" is a secondary aspect, while we usually use imperfective verbs to express iterativeness. "Iść" is imperfective, but in most cases people will say "chodzę", not "idę", in iterative context. At least "idę" will require some time expressions indicating iterativeness, while it is not necessary for chodzić. There is a strong difference between "Chodzę do szkoły" and "Idę do szkoły". The second is not iterative. But "Codziennie idę do szkoły" conveys the iterative aspect in the time expression. Still i wouldn't say it is a neutral synonym of "chodzę".
