Having done this on two cars now with less than amazing results I think its important to manage.your expectations for your first time machine polishing a car. If you're polishing a car with 1-5 year old paint you may well get excellent results. If like me you tackled 12 year old paint with lots of etchings, deeper scratches and other defects you are unlikely to get something close to perfect. You can only do so much at home in my opinion without goi g through so many steps that you'd need another car to use while the one you're polishing stays in your garage for a week or more. Just a bit of a reality check for those of us trying to do this over a weekend, it's a stretch

I have just had my first go at using a dual action polisher using koch 6 , looked good afterwards and shined but on a closer look there was still some scratches showing from when the car was driven through bushes . Would you recommend going over it again with koch 6 and another 4 passes ?

@Forensic Detailing Channel : New Subscriber here, keep on the amazing content. I want to ask you, you posted a video of polishing pipes with a drill bit (rubbered looking wheel) and a belt. Do you mind giving more information on the drill bit used and what polishing belt/compound you used? would be grateful to see a reply! Thanks!

Hi my friend, I have some customers with a good car paint, but few scratches here and there, insted doing the whole car with a heavy cut like da coarse, would you use the heavy cut just on those areas and then do the entire car with a finishing polish or AIO like uno protect? many thanks
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 10 ай бұрын
only problem with that approach is inconsistent clearcoat levels. But yes you could do that if you wanted to in order to save time m8.

The bumper on my car won’t cut out swirls and scratches remain as if I didn’t do anything, no matter how aggressive I get. They are that plastic bumper material which is different from the body obviously but I didn’t expect to get such poor results! Am I doing something wrong?

Hi John, love the channel after subscribing 3 years ago. Need some advise if you don't mind. Bought an LG2500 from in2detailing last year I'm unsure what pads to buy. Got a metallic blue focus RS mk2 with slight swirl marks. I'm thinking of going with autoglym resin polish for the initial cut, then turtle wax graphene for the final polish. Which pads would you recommend for each. Much appreciated
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 11 ай бұрын
Hi Mate, I would start with Flex Orange pads and Rupes Uno Advanced AIO polish. job done nothing else needed that will also protect the car like a wax.

@@ForensicDetailing what about a finishing pad mate
@djmandrick
@djmandrick 11 ай бұрын
@@kevy2300 Rupes advanced is an All In One (AIO), single stage compound, so you only need one pad. Ford paint is soft and having done many a single stage sould do you fine. autoglym resin polish is ok for a temporary top up to look shiny but it has a filler in it (the resin i guess!) to mask the deeper scratches a little (which basically comes out over time - usually a couple of weeks especially if it rains.) Using a compound like Uno will give you a decent cut to remove the need for the filler and look better for a lot longer as it is removing more defects as opposed to polishing hte surface and hiding the rest. I've trie hte autoglym method by hand and polisher, single stage and multiple mulitistage processes on various fords, and that is my experience of autoglym resin polish. As Jon says you wont need to apply wax or anythign else after as the compound itself has that in it as well. Its expensive stuff but worth it for a great finish and the time it saves is massive in cutting entire processes, especially for times like yours when there is jsut scuffs and some light swirl marks. (make sure you get the Uno Advanced, another is similarly named and cheaper but its different stuff. Just but a small bottle, as you'll find it goes a long way)

Can i ask since i am confused. Whats the best order of detailing? Prewash snownfoam, hand wash shampoo both neutral then whats next? Polish, wax and then ceramic? Or is ceramic instead of wax? Thanks

What pads do you recommend for cutting and polishing?
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 11 ай бұрын
generally flex purples to cut and flex oranges to polish but it does depend on what your doing. You would not really take out sanding marks all over a car with flex purples for example. but for standard detailing stuff those 2 pads can cope with most things.

We have come a very long way in such a short space of time, in terms of polishing. My colleagues and I were reminiscing about when we used to cut up our old T-shirts to polish our cars with Tetrosyl T-Cut and follow up with Turtle Wax Hard Shell paste wax. Stuff was a terrible pig to remove and that was how I got my six-pack and biceps, but the shine was amazing, especially if you were fortunate enough to own a red car. Happy days.

@@ForensicDetailing actually I have a serious suggestion. Recently I watched a video from Corey of "Sky's The Limit Car Care". He was talking about what it takes to become a certified CarPro coating installer, and one requirement is to be able to demonstrate exceptional skill at polishing, and one aspect of that is being able to achieve a very high quality finish all the way to the very edge of panels. It seems that takes extra skill. Perhaps you could speak to that?
