@The Mad MGTOW If China was to invade the south pacific New Zealand would be forfeit. Australia the United States and the United Kingdom would not come to New Zealand aid and the dominion of New Zealand would be given to China. The reason why I say this is that New Zealand does not allow nuclear weapons, nuclear ships or nuclear submarines to defend herself. New Zealand new alllies would be using mediaeval technology.

Honestly. The only way NZ can have a ACW reinstated here, would be to allow a permanent Squadron from different nations that want to work with NZDF to better each others combat readiness. The cost now to acquire, train, and maintain a fleet of Gen 4 or 5 fighters is out of our reach, given the resources we have. There would need to be a significant increase in our defence budget alone just to aquire the fleet, let alone the cost of parts, training pilots, maintenance personnel, and support. Australia, Singapore already fly their jets here to train alongside our defence force. So we could open that up to others that would wish to support a long standing squadron here, with maybe the Brits, Canadians and maybe the U.S. Understandably there would need to be a sharing of costs, but if you break it down, the cost of acquiring our own fleet compared to a permenant stationed squadron, the later could possibly be cost effective.

@@adriansammons9011 Hi Mate, I read that a while ago and forgot to mention it so thanks for that. There is another, it's Dr Peter Greener's 'Timing is Everything'. It's something I would highly recommend. It's essentially about the politics of NZ defence and procurement decision making of that time. It's incredibly informative, well researched but for me I came away somewhat incensed and has lead me to conclude there is a generational issue. Not to boomer bash but by god they are deplorable. @@gregbradley9130 Hi Greg, Not sure what you are trying to say here, but if I may, yes the A4 Skyhawks were old. In fact, our first batch were procured in 1970. That being said, they were significantly upgraded by New Zealanders for New Zealanders. The effort, craftsmanship and skill by those NZers is unbelievable. So much so the company that now owns them in the 2020s, attest to the skill and craftsmanship. I can respect to disagree, you are entitled to your opinion but lets at least be constructive and respectful. @RayFire The best defense strategy for New Zealand is neutrality. We have no borders with anyone, no conflict of interest and we dont need to always just tag along with allies in their murderous adventures. Iraq war was a sham, the US was after the oil and lets face it, it created more terrorists than before the war, not to mention hundreds of thousands of innocent lives taken including women and children. The war in Afghanistan was also a sham because the reasons for the war changed multiple times, first to eliminate Taliban, then Al Qaida then it was to establish democracy, then women's rights, all bulls**t excuses. They wanted to steal the minerals there and have a base close to China, India, Pakistan and Russia - all nuclear nations. In the end the US made deals with Taliban. Hundreds of thousands killed, bombing of weddings, murder of women and children all for no end result. Taliban are way stronger than they were before the invasion. We need no part in these dirty wars. In regards to 'unidentified' aircraft flying over NZ, who would be flying this far down, and you know the rage of fighter jets is very limited. Unless you are talking about aliens, in that case our jets wont make a difference anyways. I mean if they have the technology to travel millions of light years, they can take out any jet we may have.
@michaelgrey7854 Жыл бұрын
@@ailmlvr5905 yeah that worked really well for Belgium too. A beligerant nation does not care if you are neutral. They will get what they want. Would you slso sit by and let a country take the worlds freedoms away? Would you fight for your rights?
