This tutorial shows you how to make a polymer clay lidded dish, using a metal "bath bomb" mould to shape it on. If you buy a set of molds you can use them again and again, making dishes (with or without lids) of various sizes.

I distinctly remember her wearing a pair of pants that had 15 or more different color stripes, horizontal ones, in the 60's. We had a good laugh over that. No logic to her mind, it was all about getting away with whatever she could artistically; she was fun. She once carved a wooden toadstool... picture a frog on four carved spindles... yeah, she was that person~

Happy first anniversary! I really enjoy the laid back style of your videos - far less scary for a complete beginner like me. I love this little pot, and I REALLY love that although it looks so complex, you manage to break it down into easy to understand segments that even a dunder head (Scottish term) like me can follow! Oh and just one last thing, it is so very difficult to find UK based tutorials who obviously use products accessible here. I don't think the USA etc realise how good they have it with their choice of both stores and products. Love watching you, keep going, I need you!!! 😄🤗😘❤️

It's an ambitious first project, as the clay can be fiddly to release from the bowl after baking. So jump in but don't worry if you fail/find it hard... It's not you, it's the project. On the other hand, if you pull it off it will be a huge WIN 😁

Adorable! I had to read description: never heard of "bath bomb" and I could not figure what you were saying! Now I know. Really cute, I can't wait to try and it would make such a sweet gift. By the way, in the States there's a thing called The Furminator. It's a brilliant brush for cats that gets at massive amounts of fur. My cats love it--go figure--and it helps keep the stray fur down. @UnrulyHousewife
@UnrulyHousewife 3 жыл бұрын
That's the hard part, isn't it? It's a while since I have done it but I think I just kept running my nail under the edge of the clay (all around it) and then sliding in a strip of thin card and running that round. You need to get some air between the clay and the bowl, then it just lifts off. Work gently and patiently... I wish I had a way to make it easier!

I am so happy that you started your channel. You have a wonderful way of cheering me up. The dish is really very clever. I was wondering if you could use the outer side of the bomb dish for the bottom and the inner side for the top? You seemed a little subdued today-- are you okay?
@UnrulyHousewife
@UnrulyHousewife 7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if that would work, the top might come out a little small...it would be convenient thought! And well spotted, yes I was a bit subdued... I started the week by taking my confused 82 year old mother to have her beloved little dog put to sleep. It doesn't get much more depressing than that. :( I'm bouncing back though. xx

I love these dishes!!! I was only a few minutes into the video when I said to myself that I have to go order some bath bomb molds right now. Who knew it would be so complicated?!?! So, I have some questions for you. I believe you got a set of different sizes if I remember correctly. Is there a size you like best and find yourself using most often? How often do you use the molds in your projects? I ask that question because I'm wondering if you've found lots of uses for them and use them frequently, then maybe it might be worth it to invest in the stainless steel molds instead of the aluminum. Any thoughts on that? Does it make a big difference in the stability of the bowl to cut a circle out of middle of the foot to leave just a ring? And huge congrats on your anniversary!!🎉🎈🍾 Thank you for sharing your work and creativity with us. I can't wait to see all the fun and exciting projects you will have for us this coming year!
@UnrulyHousewife
@UnrulyHousewife 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have literally made TWO of the bowls (plus a bit of practising), so I'm not that full of advice lol. The one I've used is just under 2" in diameter but I think other sizes would be useful too - maybe roofs for fairy houses, bigger bowls and other stuff I can't quite put my finger on... Aluminium seems just fine and very strong. You do need to cut the inner circle out, I think. xx

How frustrating! I just run my nail around the edge and then if I get a little gap going I shove a strip of some thin (cereal packet type) card down and wiggle that around until the air gets in. I can't remember but I might have been using Fimo for these? I mean, I did have to go slowly and try hard but I didn't split any. Sorry I don't have more advice.
