In this video, I use white Premo Clay and Pan Pastels to make a pretty little ring dish. I used a glass candle holder as a form, a large round cutter, a 2 1/4" and a 1 1/4" round cutter A dotting tool with two different sized tips, Translucent Liquid Sculpey, clay blade, make-up sponge and varnish of your choice.

Another great tutorial ! Thank you. I just have to share - I love & use Inka Gold a lot. Some of them caught mold and it is said touching the paste in a jar with your finger can contaminate it, even if I use baby wipes for my hands. Now I use spatula to smear some paste on my craft mat and only then my finger. In my case - better careful than sorry again.

Another wonderful detailed and fabulous quality video. You are a rock star! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I have one question about the pan pastels, are they powders or wet cakes? I don't have them, but I do have the Inka Gold series. You know me, I'm a sparkle girl. :) Love, Chase
@patriciaroberts-thompson

Thanks Chase, Pan Pastels are a high quality powdered chalk pastel. They go on the clay very smoothly- almost creamy, but they aren't a cream. I love my Inca Golds too- I'm a bling girl most of the time!

Thank you so much, Patricia, for sharing your experience with us. You are a GREAT teacher, and we appreciate your thoughtfulness to help us learn. I would like to know if Deco Art pan powders work as well as Inka powders? Do you know? Thanks Tracey, you can do it either way, but if you put it on before baking, it's much more permanent. Inca Gold bonds really well to raw clay

i really would like to try pan pastel :( i hope one day to have the possibility to buy them....if i can i give you a suggestion for using inka gold: don't use directly fingers. Use them with gloves. I've seen some articles that talks about bacteria that spread on them (and mold start growing on them) and ruin the product because used like the way you do. Hope to help :)

ok :D fantastic...i love the colours of inka gold...but not that they are watersoluble...the first time i used i didn't know and they have gone away with the varnish :( the only thing to do is really put them on unbaked clay and cure them like with powders. i really prefer turpentine soluble waxes, they are better :D

very pretty. I have a question though. I haven't tried the napkin transfer yet so I'm not familiar with it but I'm curious as to why it would be difficult since the clay is flat until you put it onto the dish?
@patriciaroberts-thompson
@patriciaroberts-thompson 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Missi, the problem with the napkin, is that it doesn't stick too well to the clay, and it lifts when it's moved. So as soon as you put it into your curved form, it want's to detach, and has to be burnished again, but now it's a flat sheet not wanting to conform to a concave shape. Shallow shapes are okay though, it can be done

My only issue with Inka Gold is that it dries too fast for me to use my fingers. Might be because I have hot hands... I like the idea of using the pan pastels, but I'm also thinking about mica shift...

Every time i use my Inca Golds, I give them a small spray of water, when I'm finished with them. That way they are nice and fresh for next time. This little dish, is just perfect for all kinds of techniques, Mica Shift would be lovely!

Hi Patricia Can I burn a candle straight onto the clay surface.
@patriciaroberts-thompson

I believe it is not recommended, only because if the flame touches the candle, it will burn the clay. To be safe, put the candle in a small glass votive or use a tea-light candle
