In this video I show one of my favourite techniques with Pan Pastels and Alcohol Inks. I'm using Premo clay, on the second thickest setting on my Pasta Machine, and also Kato Liquid Clay

i don't understand how people could even give this a thumbs down. art is personal. i don't see a wrong or right in it. different techniques and different ideas. and when someone gets a dislike, it brings the creator down. my daughter's art teacher is on the mean side. but, i keep encouraging my kid not to give up. great tutorial, easy to follow, understandable, and the end product is beautiful. ty for sharing. i soooo want to do this! fall is my favorite time of year.

Thanks Joyce, I am really hoping people will take some of the information I give and incorporate it into their own work. Even if one doesn't like the project, maybe the technique will work for something else. I'm glad you think I'm on that track!

Incredible video. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I'd never heard of a leaf mold like this before. You make it all look so easy, like a dance between your fingers and the clay. Maybe one day .... long in the future, I will feel as comfortable as you with clay. Blessings.

ooh -great video! I have everything except the veining molds, but love the ideas. Quick question-which video of Debbie Crothers that showed the heat gun techniques?
@patriciaroberts-thompson7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Genesis, Debbie's video is listed on her site-It's called Curing Kato Liquid Clay- and much more. It's amazing, and while you are there her crackle bird video teaches a great crackle for clay. I highly recommend both of them www.debbiecrothers.com/product/curing-kato-liquid-clay-and-so-much-more-with-debbie-crothers

Hello Patricia - what type of heat gun do you recommend purchasing? I am new to polymer clay. Thank you!
@patriciaroberts-thompson6 жыл бұрын
For curing liquid clay, a heat gun from the hardware store that has at least 2 settings on it, is best. I think mine goes up to 1500 degrees ( really hot ) They are often sold for stripping paint, loosening nuts and bolts, like that. The heat they put out can really burn the clay, so it takes a bit of practice to find the right distance from the piece, and to keep the heat gun moving, so it doesn't build up too much heat. Once you get used to them, it really is a wonderful way to use liquid clay!

What kind of pan pastel? I went to hobby lobby and they had a oil, chalk and soft type. A lot of difference in price! Love this video!!! Can't wait to buy some clay and start!
@patriciaroberts-thompson5 жыл бұрын
Melissa Edwards Pan Pastels are a type of chalk pastel in a cake form. They are available at fine arts stores, but regular chalk pastels will work nearly as well. Pan Pastels are a bit more permanent on clay though.
@patriciaroberts-thompson7 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking that you are referring to the football shaped cutter that I use for the leaves- correct me if I'm wrong. It was from a set I bought At Shades of Clay- an on-line store. The pink thing- is called a Leaf Veiner, and I bought mine on Amazon ( Canada ) here's the link. I know that Amazon.com has it too www.amazon.ca/Anself-Silicon-Fondant-Silicone-Veiner/dp/B012R748GU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488825415&sr=8-1&keywords=leaf+veiner
@lmarteen27786 жыл бұрын
Beautiful technique, can u use just regular chalk pastels? I don't have pan pastels.
@patriciaroberts-thompson6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, the only problem you might have is the chalks will lift from the leaf as you apply liquid clay. It should be better with just alcohol ink on as you don't need to move it with a brush as much. Pan pastels after baking stay put pretty well. That's way I like them, I can antique my work without sealing the Pan pastel after curing

Do you have to use a heat gun on the liquid polymer clay? Can't you just bake it again? Love your video!
@patriciaroberts-thompson7 жыл бұрын
You can just bake the liquid clay, it will not come out as shiny though- to get it to it's full shine, it still needs the heat gun on high for a few seconds. Thank you!

It is not my business (I just don't know how else to write, so it is not public).. I noticed hands are shaking. There are a few reasons for that but since I just had same problem - it was real hard to craft anything at all! Eventually, my blood test showed that my thyroid throws too much hormone into my blood - that is why hands started shaking one day (mine was real bad). Also blood pressure, and heart rate went up badly and instantly... My endocrinologist fixed problems in just six months. I am o.k. now, and hands are fine, so can craft again. There are other reasons for hands to shake but just in case guys... check your thyroid. I have no idea how this artist can manage things, it isvery hard like this. Sigh...
