This never works for me. Poolmis green and I clean and balance and triple or quad shock it and stil teal. I end up double shocking again and then maybe itll go blue cloudy and then it's like that for a week or more with the filter running 24/7. I hate openimg my pool! I either suck at it or it's my well water which what I think is the issue. 😢😢

Hey there - great video. I am trying to follow your step by step process. After initial water testing my pH is high (7.8), CYA is low (less than 30ppm) and alkalinity is low (40ppm). Any recommendations on first steps before shocking? I have a cartridge filter and 32,000 gallon pool. Planning on shocking with calcium hypochlorite and adding algicide. Any recommendations are appreciated! Thank you.

Thanks the tip about not putting tablets in the skimmer but what about those floating devices that house the tablets in the pool?
@Theodore_von_Schwarzenhoffen
@Theodore_von_Schwarzenhoffen 3 ай бұрын
It's probably ok, but I would make sure those devices are as far away from the skimmers as possible. The problem there is if you're using meters to monitor (like a Chemtrol) then it's reading water coming from the return lines. If you have tablets dissolving right at those lines, or right near it, you're going to get a higher reading for both the Cl/ORP and pH of the main body water, even though that's not what it really is. If you can keep those floating baskets separated evenly between your skimmers you'd do better. I don't know what kind of pool monitoring you have, but I'd avoid that situation altogether.

Very informative video! Do you ask your clients to purchase the chemicals first or do you include the chemicals in your final price? I just started servicing residential pools and feel like I’m losing so much money just on chemicals alone. I would honestly charge 300$ for a pool like this but by the looks of it you are using at least 100$ of chemicals. Maybe I may be under charging.
@Poolelementary
@Poolelementary 10 ай бұрын
Hello, I always let the customers know there options with chemical pricing and labor and it really comes down to how fast they want there pool to be cleared up in this situation. This particular pool took about 4 hours labor or about 500 dollars and then another 130 dollars in chemicals to clear up but this Pool is also a commercial pool through a hoa and cost wasn't a factor they just wanted it cleared and opened for there community as fast as possible. If this was a private owner with limited money to spend I would of used a flocculant to settle things out and did a hour vacuum to waste on it to save chlorine cost but pricing is different in other areas. I can't really tell you what to charge but if your losing money it should be more.

Very informative video! My only question is why didnt you add the cyanuric acid before the shock? Wouldn't you need less shock if the cyanuric acid is there to keep it in the water?
@Poolelementary
@Poolelementary 9 ай бұрын
Good question, the cyanuric acid level on this Pool was already 40 parts per million which is almost perfect there for we didn't need to add any. Also we used calcium hypochloride to shock the pool which doesn't have cyanuric acid in it either so we were not creating a high cya level which causes us to have to use even more shock.

10lbs of CalHypo.... your pH just went from 7.5 to not readable. I'd want my water around 6.8 of I had to "magna shock" it. I have a small 14,400 pool with no more than maybe 400 max in the lines. One pound of CalHypo (ecolab) will bring it up about 4-5 parts. The pH skyrockets immediately. I have two indoor pools I have to manage and I try to keep both consistently at around 4.5 to 5.0 Cl and 7.4 on the pH end. The combined readings stay really low with that combo. 👍🏻 This IS a really great video though! Good job, dude!

*** PLEASE HELP*** I purchased a home that has a pool that wasn’t opened yet. Very dirty water, looked like lake water, green and brown. I shocked the pool with liquid shock, and it looked much better, but still cloudy. A “pool guy”, and I laugh as I say it, told me to add a flocculant, and proceeded to give me a bag of a powdered formula. As per directions I added it to the pool, ran pump on recirculating for 3 hrs, and turned it off. I was told overnight it would bind to all particles and sink to bottom, and to vacuum to waste afterwards. Next day, my entire pool has the flocc as a thin film all over the entire surface. This was after 10 hours post application. Should this film settle? Have I ruined the water? I can’t think how I could get this film off and out of the pool, and I know I can’t get the flocc in my sand filter. Hoping and praying that the flocc on the surface will sink. Can you please give me a good prognosis regarding my situation? PLEASE HELP!!!!
@Poolelementary
@Poolelementary Ай бұрын
Hopefully your skimmer will pull most of that in and your filter will take the floc out of the water just watch the pressure on it because it will dirty your filter faster than normal. The only reason we bypass the filter and just circulate the water for 3 hours is so our filter doesn't take the floc out after applying it.

If your talking about a hot tub I would drain it and shop vacuum out the bottom before refilling. On a pool that green and swampy you should atleast double or triple the recommended dose of chlorine to sufficiently kill the algae. Once this is done you will add chlorine daily to keep the free chlorine levels atleast 3 parts per million. If you don't want to spend the money on chlorine you can always use a flocculant to settle it to the bottom of the pool and manually vacuum it out to waste if you have a sand filter. If you want to see this process check out my how to clean a green pool fast video.

I would add the phosphate remover but with chlorine levels of 2 ppm or more you shouldn't have to even use an algicide.
