ive been thinking about trying a popsicle board for my next board to see if im missing out on anything. Ive been loving my winkowski VX deck. Cruz missile 2 concave is such a fun feeling and you can never beat a big ol fish tail that your entire foot fits on!

nice board!! gotta agree with ya on riding a shaped-deck for bigger transition... whenever I ride my popsicle in a pool, I find myself missing the wider tail one or two (inappropriate) times, often avoiding disaster by somehow keeping a toe on

That JM Duran board on your rack is my go -to board out of my Powell Collection. Love that board , rolls with 56mm Dragons.

Hi john Brendan here from NZ again i had a 8.5 it was too narrow so i went to an 8.75 popsicle and it made all the difference for me. I had been riding a andy howell reissue up to those last two decks it was 9.75 which i found on the vert was just too big. I find the 8.75 gave me the same board control i preferred but just with a little less weight The trucks i ride are 159 indy which help with stability too. And bones p5 84b hawk wheels 60mm I think this is a good set up for me however in a mini i would prefer a spitfire 99a maybe 56mm so reverts are easier as the bones are pritty grippy on concrete. Great video as usual, glad to see your still a t it. 🔥🔥💯💯🛹🛹👊

I've tried the odd shaped deck, but I keep coming back to pops. I seem to have settled at 8.125, which is about as wide as I'd go if I still want to be able to ollie with any degree of control. I grew up on 7.75s though so all this '8.5 is small' palaver fills me with dread and makes me query people's foot size! Little bit of controversy for you: I'm running 8.125 on 149s and have genuinely found my Goldilocks zone 🤣🤔🤙

Great input, yeah, I’ve got size 11 feet, and I’m 6’3” so I guess it’s all relative to a certain extent?

@@JonBishopSkate Ok, that definitely makes sense for you then..! It's when I see small people on set-ups way too big for them that I wonder, but I guess if they're having fun, fair enough..! I'm 5'9 with size 8 feet, so I've no need for behemoth planks 😮 I do enjoy the stability of the 149s even if they're technically 'too big' for 8 and an eighth 🤗

love the enthusiasm, but as someone who doesn't understand the kit too much this vid didn't make much sense... for example... what is a shaped deck - whats the point? why do you need to know front vs back on popsicle... is it truck set up? if so, how are front/back different etc
@JonBishopSkate
@JonBishopSkate 23 күн бұрын
Hey dude, the shaped deck has more of a surfboard influence, and was the original idea before the popsicle, so more geared up to going one way in one stance. The popsicle generally has a larger nose so still has a front and back. The trucks can be setup any way you like? I prefer them to feel the same, but some prefer a looser front or back truck. It’s all personal preference?

@@JonBishopSkate ah right, cheers. I'll have to look at my deck more closely, I thought it was the same both ends but maybe not
