The saran wrap tip was genius. Thankfully I've been using the smaller cans - but the last one I had to open I destroyed the top getting it open; ended up throwing out half the can.

When you put the plastic under the lid - let the plastic rest on top of the liquid to keep air from drying the top layer of the paint and creating a hard surface. Be sure, as you pointed out, to have plastic between the rim and the lid as well. Good video

How much did it take for you to coat both bumpers, sliders, and the fender flares?

How scratch ressitant is this on a truck bed (Suzuki Samurai)? Resistants about deep scratches up to metal ground? I use the Marine clean 30 minutes dry ,wash dry heat gun metal ready 30 minutes wash heat gun ROR 15 rust prevent in one layer finger dry second layer dry for 20 hours around 38 degree .Put on 2 layers Black Coat dry 5 hours.Drive to job and back and i get under a plastic can on the bed finger nail feel deep scratches ! What i have done wrong ,or is this normal?

ide like to see a chop top xj, my 94 is a 2 door that Im planing on chopping, and I plan on doing an internal kind of frame strengthening cause its not gonna be a rock crawler. just something to wheel around the back country with the top down drinking some pbr.

idk i feel i should film a sd version of sanding rust down and painting it. but im guessing even to do my frame and few other area, what is limited to being painted over? i know the oil pan isnt needed lol. but would i still need the top coat? even if under the truck. and is it worth double layering ?

I have yet to find a good product that lasts here in the upper mid west (the rust belt).. I painted Por-15 on my entire frame on my plow truck and with-in 2 years it started to peel off like bark on a birch tree because rust developed under it and it just lifted the paint. So I repainted it with por-15 again and 2 years later it lifted again.. I also tried Eastwood rust encapsulator and it did the same thing after about 2 years.. My truck is now 12 years old and the frame is mostly rust now because I haven't coated it in the past 4 years..

You guys should do a segment where you show how to thief proof your raido/jeep in general. I'd like to have music in my jeep but since they're broken into easily I'd like a jeep friendly setup that'll keep my raido inside my keep, and from being stolen, again.

Great video! I need to use POR 15 on everything below the rocker panels on my kee'....living in the rust belt is a pain in the butt. My floor boards are rusted bad enough that holes have worn through in places I could literally "Fred Flintstone" it to work if I had to..... So how did you guys paint your jeep? I had a 92' Ford Explorer Sport once that I painted with International Red tractor paint in my driveway. I borrowed a 30 gallon air compressor, a paint gun, and some tools; then ran down to Farm Fleet, spent $80-$100 on primer/paint, and then painted it right in my driveway one crisp fall afternoon whilst listening to a football game and drinking some beers. It looked really great when I got done, and I saved thousands.

I knew, POR had UV issues, I didn't know about the top coat though. Very cool. Are the brush strokes very visible on that smooth bumper?

Are you guys in BC?? I used a Canadian equivalent to POR 16. It's called DOM 16 by dominion sure seal. Same stuff, but it's UV stable and doesn't need a top coat. Had it on my old YJ frame for some time now and it still looks awesome. You Get it at Lordco and it's cheaper than POR. don't get much rust action in the Okanagan, but that stuff is a way to ensure your vehicle survives Armageddon.

QUESTIONS: If you don't paint right away after the metal prep how long will it last WITHOUT rusting? ALSO: The quality of your clip is good, what name and part number is the camera? Do you use a external plug in mic?

You need to try Chassis saver. POR15 sucks. No matter how much prep I do with POR15 it always flakes off. Chassis saver on the other hand I did in my wheel wells with 0 prep and stuck perfectly. A year later it's still there

I'm about to paint my truck frame (68 Chev C20) and I was trying to decide between VHT Epoxy and POR. I painted the entire floor board with POR 15 and it's been exposed to the sun during the resto and it hasn't faded or chipped. Solid! Like a rock! Came across your channel and whatta great video.
