Saved butter paper, my Nana used to do that for loads of things. Love the speed of your dauphinoise, no messin about! Also, we (2 of us) cook a big batch of peas up and freeze in bags to micro, they go with all sorts of dishes.

I have my grandmother’s rolling pin that she used when my mother was a kid. Long long time before I was a glimmer in her eye. I’m 73 years old so I’d venture to say that rolling pin is close to a hundred years old

@annpachini2155 I have my Grandmother's ceramic mixing bowl which I treasure. I'm not sure how old it is; she'd had it for years. She died at the age of 89 in 1989.

I am amazed at how your channel has grown,when I joined a few weeks ago you had 74 subscribers,and I said to you I thought you were a very good cook,and I wondered why you had so few subscribers,well look at you now,congratulations very well deserved.I love to watch you cook,even though some of it isn’t to my taste,I can’t eat pork belly,I feel about it the same way Ian feels about the lumps in mash potatoes,I just can’t eat fat on meats.I must try Swedes,I haven’t had them since I was a child,and I remember not liking them,but tastes change with age,and you,and “What’s for tea” use them,so l think I should try them again,if I can find them here in the US,I know my supermarket doesn’t have them,I live in a Bangladeshi,and Spanish neighborhood,so a lot of the vegetables are the sort they use.

Growing up in Durham City, we called swedes ....turnips and that was the equivalent of a pumpkin on Bonfire Night. Although it was a lot harder to hollow out than pumpkin, that's for sure. I remember my mam always adding some sugar before she mashed the swede (turnip.) Ive lived in London 55+ years and only learnt it wasn't turnip when i moved here. Turnips are little white things. Im not sure if my Durham family still calls swedes : turnips. I'll have to ask them.

Yummy dinner that crackling looks great, little tip when carving, place a damp T-Towel under the carving board, it stops it sliding all over the place.

lynne, love your recipes, got a tip for you , add mashed carrots, mashed turnip,mashed parsnips, creamy smoothe mashed potatoes and a tbls of marmalade mash together until pale orange colour and its a tasty extra thing for chicken or pork sunday lunch or even christmas lunch, better than store bought carrot and swede mash , you will love it, by the way your yorkshires puddings turned out great.

My kitchen is being remodelled, so I’ve not made a Sunday lunch for ages. This looks fabulous and very delicious. Belly pork is my favourite meat. I remember a story my dad once told me when I was young. My Aunt had to go to the butchers to buy a piece of belly pork. In those days it was a very cheap cut of meat. Their mother had not long died and the girls were trying desperately to fill her shoes by looking after a very large family (14). She didn’t want to sound common or uneducated or too Geordie. So when it got to her turn, she piped up in her poshest voice “I want a large piece of stomach pork please?”. There was absolute silence for a few seconds, that probably seemed like an eternity, then the whole shop, butchers, customers and probably even the butchers dog erupted in hysterics. My poor Aunt was mortified. She thought she was being so grown up and dignified, bless 12:08 her. Every time I buy belly pork now, I think of that and feel her embarrassment but also smile at the humour of it. I suppose technically, she was correct lol.

You need to soak dried marrowfat peas overnight with bicarbonate of soda rince and boil u sure if you can get them in new Zealand x

Yeah she's ace. No teeth left so her diet is limited, so I always do my cooking with her in mind with my surplus. It'll soon be wild garlic time here in North Yorkshire so I'll be making gallons of garlic and tatie soup for her and anyone else@@thedinnerlady9180
