Just a Few Acres Farm

Just a Few Acres Farm

2 жыл бұрын

Today there's all sorts of fun stuff to do on the farm! Our sow, Brownie is very pregnant, and Hilarie is cleaning the pig pens. The Dexter cattle need more hay, the piglets are always busy, and I've got a nice batch of pork belly on the smoker. I also have some not-so-fun jobs to do, like replacing the struts on Hilarie's van. But I try to make even the tedious jobs more fun with a little humor!
Note:
-We do not offer farm tours or accept visitors
-We do not sell from the farm
-We do not ship our farm's products
-We do not sell live animals

My grandmother would always say “If you learned something new then the day was not wasted”. So we have not wasted the day. The lessons in mechanics will show us what it takes to work on vehicles. Not as easy as people think. My dad was like you and did all the work on all of our vehicles and farm equipment. He would be 100 this year and wonder what he would think of our computer vehicles now. Thanks for all that you share with us.

Pete you said this was not to be about mechanic car repairs, but it's great showing that you are up to the challenge and it is interesting and even educational and to some maybe boring, but this is a part of farming life and jobs are not always pleasant but necessary. Very enjoyable, keep up the good work.

I admire your ability to notice all the details. As in, you see all the engine connections as you take out the struts and then remember it all to correctly put things right back together. I don't see any repair manual in sight. I am blessed with a very smart handyman husband myself. Cheers to all you people who bravely do your own mechanical work.

Way back when, just 2 weeks before the ice storm of '98, this Oklahoma girl moved to Ft Drum. I miss thos upstate NY summers. Watching car repairs, I sure do miss my dads old Lada from ‘88. It came with a *complete* toolkit in the trunk, it was designed to run through Siberian winters so it had nice clearance in snow, and it was simple enough that any half-decent farmer could fix it himself. Couldn’t drive too fast, but it pulled enough in first gear to replace your average tractor. :D

Well, when my schedule permits evenings, I thoroughly enjoy unwinding by watching your videos and for a little while becoming part of your family. Loved the sitting in traffic joke (all it needed was a rimshot). And, I have to say, it speaks volumes about a) your level of awareness of the ultimate realities of the universe, and b) your level of self-confidence to ascribe the presence of your grandfather's spirit to a gaggle of chipmunks. Totally touched my heart. Love your channel, your life, farm, and family, Pete. Merry Christmas to the entire family! and Happy and prosperous New Year.
