Very good. It has always been a bugbear of mine that so many bikes don't come with a centre stand as standard (and the same with cars that don't have a spare wheel + jack). Never mind, it probably does the manufacturers balance sheet a favour....

I never thought of using a hydraulic jack to raise the rear just a little. I wish NCX's came with a centre stand as a standard fix, but in any case I've lowered mine, so a standard one would not fit. Thanks for this. That will do before I try putting the Scottoiler on the NCX. And I have the other bike on the market, so that will do for that one, too. :-)

A center stand is a must on any adventure / touring bike. Not just lubricating the chain but many more maintenance jobs as well as loading luggage etc. Just saying.......

andree hammerschmidt - I decided against a centre stand for Wendy’s CB500X as it has been lowered (she is a shorty). I didn’t want to compromise the ground clearance further with a centre stand. But I DO have one on my NC.

A piece of tube in the box section where the bolt goes through would make it stronger & last longer, wish I had something like this for Trumps when I had him.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff

Fagan Fulton - hmm. Possibly. But that would mean it would not fold up. But it’s way strong enough. It’s only holding up a few kg of weight on this “3rd point of contact”. I can shake the bike with both hands and it remains rock solid.

Out of experience: you are going to need a bigger, broader foot to prevent the weight of the bike pushing the foot into soft ground, like dirt or grass.

I bit the bullet mate went to honda and asked how much for a centre stand ? The first place quoted me 400+ and none in australia hmmm might be a while before this happens ,anyway looked on flee bay at all the chinese ones and decided to ring another honda dealer on the other side of town wow 250.00 from melbourne genuine honda part ordered on friday arrived at the store on wednesday i know who ill be dealing with , however i would still like to make one of those as you never know when you might need it so can i ask for the dimensions from you ie: lengths and size of tube and channel you used i have threaded rod from some distant project ive done and clark rubber and bunnings are just down the road for a foot and bolt .
@AfricaTwin-Stuff
@AfricaTwin-Stuff 4 жыл бұрын
crispernator - stand specs? It’s not all that critical. I used scrap I had in the shed. 25mm box section of 1.6mm wall thickness. Length ? Total length to lift the bike. Wendy’s bike is lowered so hers fits her bike. The stand is in two parts mainly to aid storage. You could just use a single length of whatever to prop up the back wheel while the bike is on the centre stand.

Love your workmanship and videos. But why can't you just move the bike back and forwards to oil the whole chain.... I've been doing that and it is not difficult at all.... Plus, now her bike is 250 grams heavier... Just sayin.
