Both France & Argentina always had a good team, and very good players compared to us. They have history, and previous World Cups. Everyone excepted them to make it to the finals especially Argentina with the amount of pens they were getting throughout the tournament. Even in the final, so many people betted the first goal was going to be a pen & it was. They've achieved the record for the most pens given in WC history whereas for us in Euro 2016 we had to fight until the end each game, in hopes to score and win. As for us, not sure why, but this world cup, the media and the whole world were giving us hate to our captain and to our team to the point where our manager for some reason took in, listened to them, costed us the World Cup for benching Ronaldo, only to realize that was a huge mistake especially against Morocco where he was the only one other than Pepe, giving his all to score and equalize as well a win the game. Like even if you have to admit, that the most player that gets the most unnesscary hate is Ronaldo. For example if it was Ronaldo scoring all those pens, our country and him would be getting bashed and hated by the media constantly. Especially with how toxic Argentina was throughout the tournament, can only imagine how the media would be hating on us and on Cristiano. Like even when Ronaldo threw the captains armband on the ground, because of all that has happened, the media and the world went full hate on him but when it was Messi retiring from the national team he literally got respected and thanks whereas with Ronaldo it was "abounding" his country and not "leading" them which is quite funny since Messi litreally retired so early because of what happened to him and the media didn't even hate on him abandoning his country at a time like that, but whenever Ronaldo does something - they hate on him like crazy. Anyways, the issue we had is finally we got a team, a good one, to actually give us a chance in winning the World Cup, especially with our Cristiano but our manager just didn't know what to do with it. His tactics of Euro 2016, was just to play defensive where we had the players and the talent to finally attack and take chances, his tactics were simply outdated from what modern futebol is now with the amount of talent there is and we had. In Euro 2016, most of our players were unheard players which we all knew, but the world didn't especially Eder who all of us knew, but the world didn't know so when he scored and when we finally won our first trophy in history, like I said in my first comment, my main comment we honestly fell in tears of joys because since the start of Euro 2016 NOBODY expected us to win & we always believed especially when we were against all odds just like when Ronaldo threw that reporters microphone because he was constnatly critizing on him as well a our team, believing we wouldn't stand a chance, and all those teams that actually had a team whereas with Argentina it was the opposite all these years, they've always had a good team, good talents, history and people always expected them to win just like in 2010, 2014 being there closest and even this year where it finally happened - they finally won. Sadly, we've been wanting our manager to be sacked for over 3 years now, and he finally did but way to late. After our win, and the Nations League victory he's been costing us every single game with his tactics, not playing people in the right spots, not hyping people up, not speaking with players and just managing and coaching, only Ronaldo motivated them, there's a lot of footage we have that sadly the media doesn't show only when Ronaldo got eliminated after being hated on throughout the World Cup was some footage finally being shown just like in Euro 2016 when the footage of him was shown of him motivating all the players & him wanting to play in WC2026 and in the Euros. The hate got so much to the point where they came up with a rumor of Ronaldo leaving our national team if he wasn't going to play, to the point where our own federation had to release a statement calling out the media for there excessive hate and lies. Our team isn't like Argentina or like France, where they've always had a good team and always had history. Before Ronaldo we only qualified for 3 world cups, our best being 1966 with Eusebio but that was so many years ago. Only now did we finally get good talent, and good players, all because of all of us wanting to be just like Cristiano but its been arriving way to late as he's getting older, finally bringing history to our country, the amount of inspiration he gave us is so motivating, the pride, passion - EVERYTHING because now we finally have a legacy, trophies and history because of him. Before the whole world barely knew who we were, but with him, he gave us a name, history, trophies, awards, he showed the whole world who we are, what we are, what our country is, where we are on the map & much more. Now people can finally point to our country on the map because of him. People love him, and idolize him, he finally gave us recognition in the world and without him we would be nothing no offense just stuck in our past with the very little history we have without him. With him, we managed to qualify for 5 world cups. When he cried, we all cried, it broke our heart because all these years he's just been carrying us. If you look throughout the years, you'll see our team had some talent yes, but a lot of unknown players, with Ronaldo always having to carry us and this year it was no difference, where all of us expected us to do good but with our manager we knew it wansnt going to be possible and when Ronaldo got benched that's when we all knew 100% it wasn't going to be possible at all. So I disagree with what you said, especially with what you said about "Ronaldo should have the world cup by now". Oh also, sorry for writing a lot. Its just sad seeing him getting older, but I can tell you for sure, he'll be in the next World Cup & Euro, same with Pepe, as our country and our team knows at this point it isnt for us, its for them, especially with us having a new manager, because Fernando Santos really ruined his legacy and lost a lot of respect. Not even Ronaldo wrote a farewell to him. Also, you have to realize that a lot of people betted on Argentina even Drake, and even the media. I don't think it was like Euro 2016 at all, as both teams (France & Argentina) everyone knew one of them were going to win, especially Argentina and both were going to reach the final - and they both did reach the final with Argentina finally winning with Mbappe having to carry and save France since the talent they had were inexperienced and that there main squad players were subbed off like Greizeman and Giroud whereas for us in Euro 2016 nobody expected us to reach the final, nor did anyone believe in us, only us Portuguese people believed and knew we were gonna reach the final & win. Also that MOTM definitely belonged to Mbappe 100% afterall he did in the final, not to mention that controversial pen that in my opinion wasn't a pen at all.
