🇵🇹❤️🇵🇹And may we retain and preserve our unique roots, our beautiful culture and language. And most importantly, may we all continue to represent one another (across the globe) with love and respect (as we have for centuries). Abraços e beijinhos para todos os Portugueses do mundo. From Portugal, but living in South Africa. Proudly Portuguese❣️

it really is a cool little place. Many US immigrant groups have lost their identity in many ways. The Portuguese of RI/SE MA and their descendants still tend to keep their culture and I am always impressed at how well some can speak the language, even the 2nd 3rd or 4th generations

So I come from an immigrant group the Italians who also have done their best to preserve culture. I think we are alike in a way in terms of preservation of culture and tradition. Much respect to the Portuguese community🇵🇹🇺🇸🇮🇹

Is the Costa's Fish Market in the video the same one that been there for 40 or 50 years? When I was growing up in Swansea, my parents bought fish and chips from a hole in the wall but very popular market that had THE BEST red sauce that I WISH I could duplicate...or at least buy and have sent to me. Oh my goodness...there was NOTHING like it...not then, nor since then. Delicious!

Portuguese is still the second most common language in Massachusetts
@@thatoneportuguese6843 Yes however it's mostly spoken from Brazilians who came more recently than the Portuguese. The real tragedy is that the 2 largest ethnic groups in Massachusetts -- Irish and Italian -- barely speak the language of their ancestors.

I worked with a low-income white woman at a thrift store in Cambridge years ago. She said she was descended from the earlier various European groups who settled in New England, excluding Portuguese and other Southern Europeans. When I asked about how she identifies, she said she didn't have an ethnic identity other than "white" (her words). She spent part of her childhood in the poorer parts of Boston and Fall River. She would share anecdotes from Fall River, and had unpleasant things to say about the Portuguese and Portuguese Americans of Bristol County. She said Fall River is rundown, impoverished, and suffering from drug-related problems.
@carlgoogle28696 жыл бұрын
Marllon You sound like a self-entitled, Bostonian. I loathe that area. Regardless, Fall River is a shadow of it's former glory. It used to be the textile capital of the world. Now it's just shit.
@jaredontv5 жыл бұрын
Fall River turned to shit thanks to the NAFTA Agreement signed by Bill Clinton back in the mid 90s that allowed all our factories and businesses to up and leave the city to Mexico and China for cheap labor.. but think are about to get better. jobs and businesses are on the rise and the state is given the city grants for construction to give the city a big face lift.. get back to me in about two years and tell me the city is still shit...
