In this golf lesson Danny Maude shares what is quite possibly the easiest way to chip a ball on to the green I've ever seen. Chipping around the green can be the source of frustration for so many golfers but I guarantee you will never see an easier way to chip a golf ball than this.
Here’s what you are going to learn:
1. Chipping is not that different to putting you simply use a club that has more loft - Putting with loft
2. Every golf shot is an arc and it’s simply a matter of where you strike the ball on that arc and with what loft that will determine contact and flight
3. So to be great at chipping you have to have a chipping technique that is great at delivering the desired loft every time.

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

You are the most valuable person of all my subscriptions. #1 in my list! You have changed my swing and game play like i never imagine possible. I struggled with short distance iron shots, slicing, slice drives and chipping for so many years...... I found you while searching how to get more distance with an iron and stumbled upon your video teaching how to strike down on the ball, position, towl swing, etc. You have transformed my swing to what i only dreamed of for many years. Since then i spent so much time watching many of your other videos. Now, I only search your channel if I want to learn anything else in golf. Thanks a MILLION!!!!

A friend and I have been watching your videos for many months now. We really enjoy them and have learned so much from you. I watched this video yesterday. Today, after kind of blading a shot over the green, I chipped in for a birdie from behind a green, up hill about 3' to the green in about 5" of rough exactly as you describe here. The pin was about 25' down the hill in the middle of the green. It went up in the air so perfect! Landed just on the green and rolled straight down into the hole! It was the most beautiful shot I have hit in my 30 years of golfing. Even better than my only hole in one! I had an audience up on the veranda and they all applauded! My partner had hit a great shot to the green, but sadly missed his birdie putt! Oh well. A great time was had by all and I just wanted to thank you for your great videos!

Danny- I noticed at the beginning of the video up to around the six minute mark your student had a very poor grip with hands separated which inhibits the natural hinging action of the wrists. Then after your comment about his club action being too stiff his grip changed to a much better one with trail hand thumb pad up higher over the lead thumb which is how the Vardon-style grip works best. Did you suggest off camera that he change the grip? It’s worth mentioning I think because the most fundamental problem beginning and infrequent golfers have is with grip. I played infrequently for twenty-some years with a poor grip until I bought one of those sort weighted clubs with a moulded grip forcing my hands into the ideal “Vardon” overlap of the thumbs which is what I discovered allows the two hands to function like a door hinge with the “pin” of the hinge located at the wrist joint. It allows the golfer to turn the club 180° with just the wrists without the momentum acting on the mass in the club head trying to pull the hands and butt of the club out towards the ball as it turns over. Another advantage I discovered with that short weighted practice club was that because it hung freely and felt heavier than a normal club it exaggerated the feel of how to club turned over in the hand through impact when the hands were together creating the ideal hinging acton versus when the trail hand is placed too low as your student did in the first five minutes. The exercises I did with the training club on a daily basis several times a day finally trained my brain to grip the club for that ideal ‘hinge on a pin’ action through impact into the finish and that greatly improved my ball striking, especially in the short game. I still use that grip trainer on a regular basis to remind myself of what a well balanced turning over the club should feel like.

Great lesson. I taught my playing partner, a 23hcp, to chip this way and it’s transformed his short game. He used to always pull a 60 and have this long wristy swing usually resulting in a massive thin or fat. Now he’s giving himself a decent putt 90% of the time. Must save him 5-6 shots a round at least.

Fantastic video Danny! My poor chipping costs me lots of strokes per round. I was going to try Paul Runyon's Rule of 12 to improve it, but today's video will serve me better I think, especially when it comes to nestled lies. Thanks again Danny!

Gonna try and get my nephew to follow this channel .. hes what id call long (yrs ) term beginner (not unlike myself with decades😜 ) whos finally trying to improve over the last yr..and he has , mostly by gear and watching the tour pros ,and what his friemds tell him ..🤷🏼‍♂️ hes got some very classic ideas we all have had at one point or another …like around the green you have to really lob /flop it up to green everytime ..i tried explaining how not to to him and he says the pros flop it so it has to be the right way …then says he really doesnt watch to much of the tour after i tell him no they only do that when short sided or going over an obstacle (how theres a correct shot choice/type for each situation) but he just writes me off as playing like a “cheater “ or taking the wimpy way out or something ..lol …which i have to admit a long while back i use to think this way for a hot second too 🤦🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️… he sees me doing much better around the greens , but im still a work in progress so he is not convinced…maybe Danny can get through to him …which , maybe will get him oUt scoring me…so maybe i shouldnt cue him to Danny 😜 lol

Also love the way you say “ i believe …” at the end ..it says yes , you can do it other ways ,but this is simplest for you and your students to,learn and implement ..unlike some of the other youtube “pros” who claim it’s their way or you’re doing it wrong …class act Danny!

Good vidéo as usual Danny. 2 questions, (1) should the length of the backswing be similar to a putt of the same distance ? and (2) do you start the backswing with the shoulders or the arms ? Thank you

Would you use a putter grip for these shots, like you suggested in your other video? Or a normal iron grip but just using a putter motion for the swing? Thank you.

Hi Sandra, i would make sure to simply strike the ball first then the tight lies don’t really matter

I tried this technique today and didn't miss any chips/pitches. It also appears to have fixed an issue I was having with hitting a chip or pitch off to the right. With my previous technique my good chips or pitches were pulled left. Didn't have either issue today. Also, I do like this format for the weekly video.

Danny, nothing to do with this video. video was great I might add. I have a question on putting grips. Is it legal to have the flat portion of the putting grip facing your right hand(for a right handed golfer) Secondly, would you recommend installing your putter grip in this fashion? Personally I think it would help keeping your right hand going towards the target. Would love your take on this, thank you

Hi Dougie, simply think putting with loft. Hit a few putts with a putter and notice what part of the club face you are hitting and then hit your wedge. Aim to hit the centre of the face
