I think Hojberg should move on. He deserves to start regularly somewhere. He is 28. He’s been doing well off the bench, but when he started (it was only once) he was disappointing. I think naturally he will often pass back and sideways, as is his nature. When on £100k a week you need to be more than warming the bench. Bring in someone younger who can reach a higher level. He can then play and finish off his career completely happy.

Thanks for the continued outward support for Ben Davies. I think he’s better than a “squad” player. Anyone needing to be convinced otherwise can just look at his 323 appearances for Spurs and 84 for Wales. This guy has been a productive left back, left CB in a back three and now in a back four. And his passing and quality on the ball has improved under Ange as well. His reading of the game is excellent and versatility allows him to seamlessly step into various roles when Spurs have needed him. Honestly, he’s the kind of player that all Spurs supporters should be telling their kids to emulate, not complain about. He’s the consummate professional.

I’ll confess, I’m one on those who give Ben Davies grief when he makes one of those mistakes. But in the last two games, was the best Spurs player on the park. It’s not just the clearance and blocks in the forest game, it’s the number of times he bailed players out. Especially, Bissouma, when he made those wayward passes and gave the ball away.
@pauldurdin61635 ай бұрын
Get real. He wasn’t the best player against Newcastle, they barely crossed the halfway line
@benwebber81325 ай бұрын
He showed real aggression as well. Hard to judge him when he’s playing with someone iffy next to him, but next to Romero, he has been excellent. Probably better than when he does play left back. I don’t think he ever rocks the boat, clearly loves the club and it would be daft to lose a left footer who covers several positions. He seems like such a nice guy too.
@stephenevans34835 ай бұрын
That was a difficult game for our players to break through the Forest defence. Great thunderbolt shot from Kulu to get his goal. Bissouma with another reckless challenge but the likes of Ben Davies, Vicario, Son, Porro and Romero all having a really good game. Wonder if people still think Vicario was the "cheap option", more like the best option and still improving.
@robharwood-stamper98575 ай бұрын
Held my hands up after the Chelsea game. I was a doubter - not for cheap reasons, he just seemed to jump over the ball a lot in pre season.. he has more than proved himself. I dread to think where we'd be if Hugo was still number 1 - not that Vic has it all going for him, he had a horrendous flap at a no pace ball against forest, baffled why he didn't catch it, but he has been so impressive since the season began and feel we've got a keeper we need to take us forward

If Ange appears wishy washy about his public messaging, you can be assured his messaging behind closed doors is direct, unequivocal and emphatic. The team as a whole and each individual player will have no confusion as to what he is saying to them. For instance, I can only imagine how furious he would’ve been to see a completely unmarked NFFC player at the back post get some much time to take a shot only to kick the ball into the crowd. Ange will not publicly criticise or castigate anyone. He prefers to accept the criticism of pundits and public aimed wherever it may be directed towards the club and deal with the people he needs to deal with directly, like a man. Peace and Love, In Ange We Trust and Come On You Spurs

Eh good to see you Mr Gold! I have to say, I do feel a little hard done by with all these suspensions we keep picking up. Growing a little weary of watching teams kick chunks out of our boys all game only for us to be punished for a shoulder barge, leading to a suspension. Udogie is now suspended and somehow Yates escapes with not even a yellow...? I thought the Palace game would be a one off. Because Ayew committing 8 fouls and being the only Palace booking in the 92nd minute, after 21 fouls (double that of Spurs), was mind boggling… But now it seems to be the strategy against Tottenham- week in week out teams kick the stuffing out of Spurs players, injuring them and disrupting all momentum. Cynical fouls to stop counter attacks NEED to have a yellow card every time or you are actively rewarding the fouling team by given them a chance to get back defensively.

It felt unfair how Yates finished the game without a booking after screaming at the ref the entire game and waving his hand for a card. Also Gibbs-White should've gotten a booking for kicking the ball away from Vicario after he fouled Udogie earlier in the game. A few games already this season I felt the ref was more lenient towards our opponents than our players. Don't want it to sound like a conspiracy, but if say Udogie did what Murillo did on a yellow yesterday, we'd probably see him off

Appreciate Bissouma has had a couple of months of poor form since the win at Luton. Hopefully, he will come back better after AFCON. Never bad word on Ben Davies, always gets on with it. Good for Richie to get another goal and Kulu has really upped his game these last few matches. Disciplinary is a concern, been far too rash especially when we are cruising ahead in matches, Romero last Sunday vs Newcastle was another sample of madness. On another note, glad Tom Lockyer is responding, always scary when they drop down like that, very upsetting for all involved. Hopefully he is well enough to enjoy Christmas with his family.
@lllPA94lll5 ай бұрын
Ally, watch Gary Neville's commentary to the Curtis Jones red card against Liverpool and then watch his reaction to the Bissouma red. His position on these two incidents are utterly inconsistent, and I can't get my head around why we're treating his perspective as if it's got any value whatsoever when it's so demonstrably nonsense? The way he talks about it, you'd think Bissouma had tried to do a Cantona on Yates! How can we logically speak of a "discipline problem" at Spurs, when other teams are getting away with far worse challenges than our players? Last game, Joelinton slammed into Porro hard enough to flip him into a potential head or neck injury and got nothing. Less than a month ago, Cash wiped out Bentancur at knee height, in a horrorshow of a challenge that's a guaranteed injury every day of the week, and got a yellow. We're simply the victims of Webb's insanely unbalanced refereeing system, where Udogie's yellow for a shoulder barge is deemed equal in seriousness to Cash's knee height hack, and Bissouma accidentally missing the ball and glancing his knee with his studs is deemed even worse than both.
@neil3645 ай бұрын
I wanted to write everything you wrote, so I'm glad I read through other comments first. I actually feel as if your comments here need to be spoken out loud as they are so valid and relevant to what's happening to our team. We aren't just unlucky with injuries. We are being carded unfairly and it's impacting on squad availability. Biss has caused some of his own problems this season for sure, but that never should have been more than a yellow, it was a bad attempt to get the ball, nothing malicious at all. Udogies barge etc as you said. Appaling inconsistencies.

Impressed how Skipp grew into the game 2nd half. I do think his best position is at the base of the midfield 3 where Bissouma normally plays. Could you ask Ange if he sees him playing there, pointing out this is where he was great when Conte first came in? Thanks Alasdair!
@djpaullawrence99935 ай бұрын
If you play Skipp there the team plays different. The best option is Sarr or Locelso with PEH. You need someone to take the ball. Otherwise the outlet will be Porro and Cuti who don't get the first pass option when Bissouma in there. Skipp can not resist a press. The formation will be 4213. With Biss it is 4123. If Locelso is not available Sarr has to come inside to help and Porro will have the right side all by himself. Just the way Liverpool and Newcastle set up with Trippier and Trent . Tactically that is how I see it.

For me Ange does his talking on the pitch and so far its a good talk! Good performance except for Bissouma's red which luckily didnt cost us any points this time out. Frankly, it seems to me that refereeing performance is deteriorating by the day. 3 players clearly offside and the assistant referee either didn't see it or didn't have the confidence to raise his flag. All three weren't just marginally offside. They were half a yard or more off! Shocking.

We know one thing for sure... back this manager! I really thought we were going to fall apart after the third defeat and not win another game all year (2023), but Ange has got this team stable again and actually still playing well for the most part. Imagine what he'd do with a fully fit team and some reinforcements.

Magic Alli, thanks for the always balanced opinion… agree with 99.99% but I’d be willing to wager that Ange nix’d the ‘Clean Sheet Bonus’ on Day1… ain’t going for 5th mate! 😂 First game I couldn’t see this year so can’t wait to be back at the stadium for Everton.

We all remember the recent January transfer sagas - may have got decent players in but ange certainly won’t want the same type of saga, the Porro one especially was horrendous! Everton all of a sudden looking a tough game with 4 on the bounce - fingers crossed for another win to stay near the top pack

Officials seem to be getting lazy but when are giving out yellow cards based on players recommendations it's really sad, shame a Spurs player never recommended the Forest player didn't get sent off toward the end of the game, he'd already had a yellow. As for Ben Davies like every other Spurs player he's had off games over the years but even Harry Kane had the occasional off game but every manager he's had has called on him and he's delivered most of the time. With the transfer window coming up though based on his track record I'm glad Paratici is still on the payroll, let's face it people are raving about Kulu, Udogie, Sarr, Porro, how much we miss Bentancur and who got all those guys in, I suspect he had a lot to do with Vicario coming in as well. I'd like to think Ange is going to revisit that chat about being a leader with Bissouma though. Have a good one, take care of yourself, have fun.

You were chatting about Levy and Postecoglou and the transfer window. Could you give us a chat about the whole structure going into the window? How much has Daniel Levy stepped back in favour of Scott Munn, what Lange and Mackenzie are doing. Just an overview of what the responsibilities are of these people now we've had this restructure.

Ali is definitely tired in this video, we got both Shania Twain and scat references 🤣 Love it as always. I hope all is well, Ali.
