3.5 pounds / 1.5 kg potatoes
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp melted unsalted butter
2 cups / 470 ml heavy cream
1/2 cup / 60g grated Parmesan or Gruyère
Spices:
Salt and black pepper
Thyme
Nutmeg

Iam from USA. My mother made these potatoes. They were called scalloped potatoes. The only difference was she put thin slices of onion and butter in the layers. Also they can be made alternating layers with sweet potatoes. Thank u. I had forgotten about scallop casserole.

Actually these are Potatoes Au Gratin - they have cheese in them. Scalloped Potatoes just have a cream sauce or maybe just stock. Whatever your mom makes is always a good choice though.

Very nice. I make au gratin potato’s with some diced ham or bacon added. I typically use a very sharp cheddar as well. Even some fresh or frozen peas add to it as well! Great recipe! Enjoy.
