This is one of the biggest updates to Power Bi in recent months. End users now have the capability (without knowing) to dynamically change a query against the data source based on regular slicers and filters.

Yes, a very powerful update for Power BI. It closes the gap a bit on Tableau parameters in the area of end user self service what-if analyses.

How would you do this with a where statement with an IN (), ie WHere column in ('black','white','red','green')? Can your parameter be linked with a slicer that is select multiple?

In my version "Power Bi Desktop (May 2022)" I cannot recreate this. Where am I making my mistake? The data connectivity mode I have also put DirectMode. But how can I build the table for Aerea manually? In your video at 04:50, the Data and Area tables are created in Mix data connectivity mode. How did you do that. Can you show how you did it? I have a huge fact table which i dont want to Import, How do i filter on fact table IDs, using DIM table "names" in the slicer ?

OKAY.. how about using a "stored" proc in that query to allow the user to "update" as well as refresh the data... Power bi doesnt know what your doing in the stored proc right?

Can I pull a parameter from page URL when I am hosting Power Bi report in an on that page?

oooh that is tricky. If you are using PowerBi embedded (embedded capacity), you can leverage parameters, but if you are just embedding the report using html code, I don't think there is a way for PowerBi to read in a url parameter and leverage it as a Dynamic value.

Is this feature available for snowflake databases

When the feature was released in February 2022, it supported T-Sql based data sources, Terra data, oracle and Data flows. I use it with Azure SQL and SSMS. I have not tried it with snowflake, but if Snowflake is SQL based, you may be able to do it.
