In this video I will go over how to maintain and upgrade the power steering system on your Gen3 Montero.
The vehicle uses engine speed-responsive hydraulic
power steering.
The steering wheel has four spokes. All vehicles are
equipped with SRS (Supplemental Restraint System).
The steering column has a shock absorber mechanism and a tilt steering mechanism.
A vane-type oil pump with a fluid flow control system
has been included. The steering gear and linkage is
rack and pinion type.

Very good idea adapting the filter into the power steering return line. My '98 Montero sport power steering is quite a bit different than your vehicle. The power steering reservior is on the passenger side, rear of the air cleaner and then both return and high pressure lines run across the front of the car, below the radiator the steering box (most likely to allow cooling since they are steel lines). Great video.

Hmm kinda scared doing this to my Gen3 as my starter may go out haha but nice video nonetheless.

Hola, En mi opinion, como este motor no es direct injection el catch can es opcional pero, como se dice en ingles, it can't hurt.

Hi informative video, but can I use ATF if so should I go for Dex II or Dex III? Well I recently topped up with Dex II but now my steering started screech sound after 2 weeks of adding dex II. My car looks exactly like yours but its a Pajero year 2004, 3.0v6 with 6g72 engine

Please advice could worn out brake pads cause the buzzing issue when brake pedal is pressed? Because mine when I press the brake pedal 3 times with the engine off and ignition on I get the small buzz sound and an abs dash light! This is the exact sound it started doing a few days back, sometimes when u apply brakes to put on reverse it will have a continuous beeping sound then switches off! This is the sound I mistaken for power steering related issue earlier on..

I would stick with PS fluid
