Towed our RV on a camping trip to Shenandoah. There is more than enough power to tow our RV. I just messed up the setup of the weight distribution hitch. I need a new hitch (larger drop) to accommodate future towing.
I have an EAZ-LIFT weight distribution hitch system. I need to get a larger drop on my hitch to accommodate the height of the Power Wagon.
MPG went from bad to worse.

I just added Thuren front and rear track bars and Bilstein 5160 shocks all around. The shocks firm it up a bit and are designed to handle heavy loads better and they work great. The track bars eliminated the rear end "waggle" you get when pulling trailers or hauling heavy loads. The waggle is completely gone. A $2000 upgrade that out does the Carli systems costing thousands more. I did not change out the springs for the soft springs and glad I didn't.

I dealt with the same problem with my weight distribution setup when I moved to the PW from a 1500. I'm sure you've already done whatever you were going to do, but really you could probably get away with simply getting a new shank for the ball that has a bigger drop. They're easy to find. That's exactly what I did, and I think it cost me like $40 and some elbow grease to get the whole thing setup correctly for the PW.

I haven’t done anything yet. I truly appreciate the info. I’ve winterized the RV and it’s in the back yard waiting for next season. I’m now waiting for Black Friday to find a deal.

Great information! I am considering a 6.4 in either a PW or 2500. I am curious what RPM, gear, and speed did you take those hills at? And same question when you were pulling the flat straight roads? Does it go into 8th gear, if not what gear? Thanks for helping a guy out!

Going up the hills was between 4th and 6th, depending on how much I was pushing it. RPMs sat around 3500 going up as well. Coming down I limited the gear to 4th to control the speed and save the brakes. It held around 40-45 mph downhill. The flat roads was in top gear. Caught myself doing 70 (in a 55). Again because it handled so well and has so much power it tows with ease.
