From what I understand, if your generator has a floating neutral for running the house, if you decide to use it for direct applications the ground wire connection does not all of sudden make it bonded. You need to connect the neutral and ground directly in the generator again. It needs a jumper wire.

I just added Thuren front and rear track bars and Bilstein 5160 shocks all around. The shocks firm it up a bit and are designed to handle heavy loads better and they work great. The track bars eliminated the rear end "waggle" you get when pulling trailers or hauling heavy loads. The waggle is completely gone. A $2000 upgrade that out does the Carli systems costing thousands more. I did not change out the springs for the soft springs and glad I didn't.

Well, I've owned my lightly used (16,000 miles) 2022 PW now for 12 days and I love it! No surprises on the mileage since I traded a 2012 Laramie 2X4 with the 5.7 that only got 15 mpg so anything over 13 with the PW is good enough for me. I bought the truck as a retirement gift to myself to tow an off grid travel trailer around the country. I plan to find some remote lakes and streams to fish and I want to make sure that I can not only get in to them but I can get out also. In between fishing days I'll unhook the trailer and do a little off-roading so it's a PW for me!

It sucks because these trucks look soo cool… but you will literally use the winch 2-3 times in 10 years, all the off-road stuff maybe 3-4 times a year and it gets horrible gas mileage and it’s towing and payload are like 1/2 ton numbers. It just doesn’t make sense… if your buying to go off-road a lot then maybe it’s worth it but other then that it is just a useless truck. Sadly. It looks cool as hell.

A Quick Look at the stats…it will as long as long as it is not at max gvwr of 10,000 lbs. NOW, if you get a lower trim level Power Wagon, it will be able to tow it due to a higher payload and towing capacity. But you will have to look at your vehicle payload I’m sure. May want to look at the Rebel HD. That truck will tow it easily with room to spare.

@sa3key
@sa3key 6 ай бұрын
I do. I got this one in particular because there was a hurricane coming and the news was predicting power outages. I had just moved to the area and needed a generator in a pinch. This was the last one available at Harbor Freight. None were at Home Depot or Lowe’s. So by default, I grabbed this one and it has not disappointed. I did intend to use it for my RV which is also why I grabbed the size I did. But it will be used only for the house now. I do the maintenance on it myself and run it every couple of weeks per the manual. But I think you would be good with any generator you pick. Just make sure it has the watts and amps you need to run whatever you need.

Nice project. Just FYI, that, foam does not really provide a reduction or absorption factor in the frequency range where you need it. You need rock wool or some other dense material (not foam of any type) and air gaps or resonator boxes tuned to the right frequencies. Secondly, you want to reduce vibrating surfaces and open gaps where the sound escapes directly to the environment. Obviously, we all look to balance cost, effort, and time, so of course, all of these are just tips if you look to improve the design over time. SoundBlab here on the tube has a great example of an S tier enclosure if you are interested. Looks like an enormous amount of work though :P

Is the power feed physically connected to the first disconnect panel in/on the house? And, if so, is the genset a bonded neutral, or floating neutral? If connected to 1st disconnect, it should be a floating neutral as there should only be one bonding point. And, since you are using the house ground, you really don't need the ground connection at the generator. I think the only time you would need the ground is if you are running extension cords, in which case you also would need the neutral to be bonded at the genset.

I am thinking of getting a pw but im curious if it will be better then what i have now. Im in a 07 ram 1500 ( 2500) laramie mega cab 4x4 with the 5.7 hemi getting about 10 mpg I have a family of 5 So, so far better gas, newer, lower mileage, should have more hp and tq. Better off road. Im just worried about everyone fitting in it and the towing and hauling capabilities. Thoughts, thanks Im thinking a 2016 ram 2500 pw laramie if not a new one.

If you’re towing more than 10,000 lbs plus people in the cab go with the Laramie. The interior space is amazing. I’m 6’2 and I would be comfortable in the back seat on a long drive. Just me, but I’ve had bad luck with used vehicles. The last 2 I bought were CPO (Chevy and VW) and I had both for less than a year and bought new. This RAM is what replaced the Chevy. And 1 year in, I still love the truck and have had no issues. I will be doing a 1 year update video soon.

@sa3key awesome thank you. Yeah don't think I'm that heavy. Mainly like 4 wheeler in bed, then flat bed trailer with camping gear and supplies then the family. Other times are towing my derby car around and just tow or haul farming stuff around when not the tractor. I'm sure the pw would handle that just fine and probably do better in the wet muddy fields. Thanks again

Did a similar job to yours. Comments: - If you want to properly soundproof your shed you need a combination of a sound barrier and an absorbant material. You have only the latter but sound barrier is heavy and not practical for the door and maybe the lid. There is nothing on the roof. Bare spots negate the work you have done. A crack or opening in the shed will allow the sound to escape. In my build I put curved vents on the intake and fan exhaust. since sound likes to travel in straight lines and is forced to go at right angles. I put adhesive window weather stripping on the floor to seal the doors and also the lid. Good soundproofing is expensive and can blow the budget so be careful. Think about a muffler on the exhaust. I cannot understate the importance of good air flow. I hear comments from others like - it ran for 9 hours and no problems. Remember the cyl. heads and generator windings don't like heat and failure is progressive until it reaches the point of failure which will happen when you most need it. In my case (Honda 5 kw) I installed a 16" ac infinity fan on the outlet rated for 3,000 cfm. to get the temp down to no more than 15 F above ambient. Get a remote thermometer and monitor inside temps. This will confirm if you have an inside temp problem. Hard to see from the video but if you do not have vibration/ absorbant pads under the feet, then think about doing so. You have an extended length of exhaust tubing. It radiates and conducts a serious amount of heat. Glad you wrapped it. If sealing the gen. exhaust tube end is an issue put some muffler cement around the connection. When you remove the gen for servicing it will easily debond. I would consider also buying bimetallic high temp shutoff disks (normally open) and connect these to a shutoff circuit such as the low oil shutdown. There is an excellent 2 part videos on KZfaq and also buy these Shutoff disks (Ebay/Amzn) for a temp above the normal operating temp of your generator to protect it from say a fan failure and meltdown when it is unattended. These are cheap and I settled on 130 F. After install I tested with a hair dryer.
