Pivi Screen Upgrade - 10" to 11.4" - Changing the Car Configuration Files (CCF) Using GAP IID Tool

We plug in the new screen and it does not work - is it the screen faulty or the CCF files are not compatible with the early Land Rover Defender. We use the GAP Diagnostics IID tool to change the CCF files.... but it needs a classic Turn ON and Turn OFF to make it work !

As I was watching the black screen I was telling myself if he turns off the car and locks the doors for few min I bet it will work :D only because I get black screen sometimes (with small screen) and that is the only way to restart it Thanks for another great video :)

I’ve just had the same fitting duel view screen completely dead but power cycled worked. (Not tried duel view yet as forgot to turn off video in motion) discovery sport. Next step fit the IR receiver and RSE module

Thats a nail bitter for sure… want the 11inch so bad but the anxiety of DIY may be too much to take. Your videos build confidence though!

We have nearly done the 11.4" - the 13" is next on my list ! We are going to have to design some new brackets for this screen too !

@@L663 I’ve still got a plastic ear trumpet I made up in 1967 so that I had greater “accuracy” listening to that hiss and getting them to sound the same! 😀😀😀

I have the larger screen in my current 90, I’m not fan, it looks like an afterthought and everything is still the same size as the 10” screen, which to me looks much tidier.

Good day! Hello from the US! I love watching your videos I am going to buy the gap tool soon. I’m hoping you show some basics that I can follow to help upgrade my 2021 110 S. I’m interested in turning off the auto / on off start. I would like to lock to tallest off road height. I would like to add that cruise control feature and of course NOW I need to get a new screen. Do you have a link for the 13” or 11 inch screen?. I know you said eBay but I can’t find here. I’m really interested in the 13” and I want to make sure it comes with the bracket and plugs or harness. Do you sell them? I would really appreciate your help, I have no one here to help me out. Thank you for your videos I really enjoy them. A basic video on gap tool to fix some things would be really cool!

Yes we are starting to do the GAP mods on our Defender 90. The 13 inch screen we have not go one yet - but i now have a supplier for these at a good price. Bear with us a couple of weeks and we have the full kits in stock .. brackets / screens / wiring looms

Hi Simon, I have done the same 11.4” changes using Gap G4 tool and got the blank screen. However I locked the car overnight and let it power cycle but still got the blank screen. I can’t figure it out why only thing could be I setup the wiring of the connector incorrectly? Hope your next video show us the connection convert from 10.8” to 11.4” 🙏

You will know if your change with the IID worked as IF it worked your 10 Inch screen will NOT work anymore. Someone in the comments says there is a RESET option in the IID tool which helps. Simon

Question on the fitment, I also have a small screen in my defender. Does it require any modifications to the upper dashboard?

Hello Simon..Scary stuff but young Destiny sounds unfazed…I would be frightened to death it would never work again! I was at “ Motorway Services” again last week and a new RRSport Hybrid was parked at the EV chargers but not plugged in. I wondered if it was diesel parked there but then the EV Charging Attendant saw me and said that it was broken down…” Brand new and it won’t start…that’s a £140,000 car and the AA wont tow it so it is sat there until someone will recover it!….it must weigh about four tonnes!!” . The AA link and Shropshire registration is a clue to it being a Rental Car but I just wanted the keys and thought of you..I’m sure we could get it going with an ignition cycle or similar…but now there is another set of “JLR is rubbish” believers! 🫢😬😀😀😀😀Have a good night..Richard😀😀😀😀

Any hybrid cannot be towed at all and needs a flat bed recovery. I have a full hybrid, not plug in, and got a puncture that funnily enough, the emergency kit did nothing at all. So had to call the RAC and wait 4 hours to turn up. I assumed they would fit one of their fits anything emergency spare wheels. But, as I have 20 inch tyres the emergency wheels don’t fit over the regeneration kit on the wheels. Meanwhile a flat bed was several more hours away but Mr RAC drilled a hole in the tyre and shoved one of those rubber strips in nd blew up the tyre. It worked but was told get a new tyre tomorrow.

@@stevenmoran4060 I suspect the trouble was that the driver may have tried to disconnect the cable whilst it was still charging and may have caused a spike that upset the electrics. It might well have reset things had they gone through a lock/unlock procedure. I am sure it was a Rental car as it had a bar code on the screen and any private owner would have called Land Rover Assist for specialist help rather than the AA. 🫢🫢🤔

The engineering PN you need to look for is ( for 11.4 inch screen upgrade ) MX63 19C279 AC or AD AE AF There are none on ebay right now. We will offer the 13" screen upgrade soon as we have a source for these screens.

@@L663 cheapest I've seen on ebay is £800 to £1300! you did well. I read you need to reboot the pivi after the ccf is completed - hold the power button until it reboots

@@dannymm I will give you a tip .... do a ebay search for the engineering part number MX63 19C279 This is part number ( engineering number ) on the label on the back of the screen. This screen is used on some Jaguar models and you can find them cheap. There is one on ebay now with scratches - but some PPF over the top would maybe fix that ? Good luck.... Our brackets will be launched soon !
