Josh, as always, excellent information! I have had great success with the limit strength programs in your Built To The Hilt: The Strength and Power Edition book primarily programs 9 and 10 (including some adjustments to fit what works for me). I was wondering, given the success of those programs, if you could suggest a book to buy next to find more offseason programs. I realize that the proper offseason program will depend on my weaknesses, but a general template to build or tweak is all I am looking for. I will swallow the humble pill here and say that at this stage I still get a lot out of a "monkey see monkey do" approach to programming, especially in the case of some of the ones you have shared. Thank you for the content!

Josh amazing content! Im curious to how you would structure your training. If you change your main exercise. For example you’d start with incline press for 10 sets of 5 at 70 percent and then close grip work for 5 sets of ten at 70 percent as well?

Perfect timing as I'm in my offseason and want to move up in weight. Any thoughts on moving up in wieght but feeling like general shit day to day. 140lbs sprinter in college, at age 30 found the platform and after a few years settled in at 181. I'm also 5'8. The problem is every time I get around the 200lb mark I feel like shit everywhere except when I'm in the gym. Joints start to hurt more then usual, aches and pains, tendinitis, general unpleasantness. I've followed you for years and all your content/books are golden. Thanks for keep us educated and motivated.

Two questions for you Josh: 1- What rep range do you suggest for Hatfield squats? Does it make sense to go as high as 8's or 10's for a powerlifter or would you prefer more sets and reps at 6 or below? 2- About hypertrophy and weight loss, I want to lose about 10 lbs of fat and gain 10lbs of muscle, do you recommend cutting and then bulking or just keeping calories at maintenance and increasing training volume for a "recomping" effect?

You absolutely could do as high as 8's and 10's or you can do less reps and mores sets, I use both on a case by case basis. If you have never attempted targeted keto that would be my suggestion. A number of people have DEXA scans to prove what is seemingly impossible according to most (keto is a game changer either way but would be good to know)

I never seriously considered keto because other nutrition experts like Alan Aragon have said that there is no benefit over a diet with carbs and equal calories, but the fact that you recommend it makes me wonder if there is something more to it. I admit I haven't read your keto book, but do you not find that performance suffers for the first while when switching to keto? I like carbs too, but I also want a big total and less bodyfat. Based on what would you decide on high vs. low reps on Hatfield squats? I find I do better with less reps and more sets on the squat & dl because I avoid technique breakdown but that seems like less of an issue here since it isn't a competition lift.

Presumably, with this increase in training volume (and intensity?), the calorific requirements are going to shoot up at the same time in response?

thanks Josh for sharing, I appreciate your common-sensical simplistic but diverse approach to increase strength.....been following the Mike Ohearn Power lifting game plan, but time for a brief change, as I need the muscle mass to increase strength. Time for some bodybuilding, and a good time for that, summer is here.
