Playful is how I would choose to describe this beautiful section of the Schumann Concerto, which comes along as somewhat flirtatious and certainly tricky to resolve, technically and musically speaking. What makes this passage so challenging is that the obvious musical lightness cannot be compromised by technical obstacles. Easier said than done! My personal key has been to resolve the passages firstly from the bow hand rather than staying fixated on the left. That way I feel I can oxygenate the runs and shifts easier and give it the light touch I want it to have.
