You are one of my TOP 4 favorite French teachers on KZfaq & I use your videos a lot to teach French to my anglophone students. Your explanations & English translations + explanations are the best for FSL (French as a Second Language) learners. Merci beaucoup! 😊

Bonjour, Alexa. With you delivering your lessons in English, I understand 100% of the content, as opposed to perhaps 60% for lessons delivered in French. Votre vidéos sont très utiles. Merci beaucoup.

Lots of French people don’t make this distinction of “staying with the person or not”. Even the official rules given by L’Académie Française do not mention this. Other French professors on KZfaq don’t teach it this way either.

Merci Alexa. Is je dois used before the infinitive all the time in French when you're saying you're taking someone somewhere ? Similar to when you use je vais + infinitive in the Futur proche?
@welcome2behappy
@welcome2behappy 4 жыл бұрын
je dois is literally I have + to do (where to do is full infinitive), you use it in the same manner as in English: I have + full infinitive verb with "to" in front. Its ust the same rule as in english. I have to take sb to somewhere would be je dois + emmener (qn) a ... Hope this helps!

"en" corresponds to the preposition "de", like he eats from apple/ he has eaten SOME apple. Whereas il la mange would mean he eats apple, the whole thing is meant vs some of it in the 1st case.

Bonjour !

S' is used to talk about the third person of singular "Il S'est arrêté ici" : He stopped right here (In French it would be "He stopped himself right here"). L' refers to the other person or object : I have to bring IT before 12 PM : Je dois L' apporter avant midi.
