Pravin Kalyan Amre is an Indian cricketer who represented the Indian cricket team between 1991 and 1999. He played 11 Test matches and 37 One Day Internationals (ODIs).
Amre made his One Day International (ODI) debut against South Africa at Kolkata on 10 November 1991, scoring a 55 off 74 balls. His Test debut came against the same team at Durban, scoring a century which was incidentally his highest score in tests. In the event, he became the ninth India player to achieve this feat. Pravin Amre's highest ODI score also came against South Africa when he scored an unbeaten 84 from 98 balls to lead India to victory in the 7th one day of the 1992 ODI series.
Amre was coached by Ramakant Achrekar, who also trained cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli. He was the coach of the India Under-19 Cricket Team, which won the 2012 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Australia and Mumbai cricket team. He was the assistant coach of Pune Warriors India in the Indian Premier League. He was the talent scout for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL.
In July 2019, he was appointed as the batting coach of the United States National Cricket Team on a short-term basis. In January 2021, he was appointed as the assistant coach of the Delhi Capitals.

I think it was the last match of the series.India was trailing 5-1 in the series. From 84/5 this pair won the game for India against a very strong strong south African team. This was probably the best team South Africa ever had

Praveen amre played many match winnin knocks in his short carrier... that two outside india. He averaged 42 in tests.i think he was not liked by match fixers due to his honesty..

In 1990s India has problem of chasing target in ODI. The batting was strong in top order with Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly, Azhar, Sidhu, Srikant. The problem was when top order get out soon in chasing score the middle order was weak. India lost so many matches due to this. Ajay Jadeja was good/OK in taking India to a respectable score after collapse of top order when batting first but he was below average when India was chasing and top order lost wicket soon. Azhar was also not good in chasing under pressure and was getting out just before climax. Things improve little bit after Robin Singh join team. His batting average was not very impressive but he was able to help team in chasing target in ODI under pressure. This things improve after 2000 when Azhar, Ajay Jadeja, Nayan mongia left the team and Yuvraaj Sing, Kaif, Dhoni, Raina started palying for India. This is also the main reason India won world cup of 2011. Similarity in 1983 and 2011 world cup winning team is presence of all rounder player. 1983 team has mainly bowling all rounder batting in middle order and in 2011 the team has batting allrounder batting in middle order. These all rounder won matches for India in some important knockout games. Physical fitness is main reason India did not have good fast bowling attack in 1990s. Srinath was one player who was trying to give his best in bowling but his fitness put limitation on his availability. Agarkar was very impressive and got 50 odi wickets in less than 30 matches but due to weak body he has to cut his speed. Venktesh Prasad and Prabhakar were better swing bowler but their bowling speed on startred reducing was makes batsman easy to play.
