Why are your mathematical skills so deficient? It’s easy to get a PhD. It just requires ass kissing and perseverance. Don’t let some initials after your name prevent you from achieving cross-disciplinary competence. Lose the hubris.

There are some tests, especially in the sciences, that require a test taker to answer not much more than 50 percent of the questions to pass. Let that sink in. The Praxis is about making money first and foremost. Secondly, the standards are so low because many states and schools are desperate for teachers. If they raise the standards, there won’t be enough teachers.

You literally get so much time out of the classroom, awesome benefits, potential to earn more money and become a principal, and getting to make an impact on each one of your students lives. Either, you did not care about your students or you are trolling because I am just wondering LOL

Like every other moron who isn't a teacher nor have been in the classroom, you think that time off, benefits, and admin possibilities are the objective. You think that when the kids leave @ 3:00 the day is done. Parent calls, meetings, planning, inservices, useless training seminars, leftist propaganda indoctrination training (which I refused to do), impromptu counselor to kids AND parents, fighting with power-trip admin, etc. I stuck with it 25 years BECAUSE of the kids. Why do you think there is a teacher shortage? Young adults don't want to get in it. Case in point: Some years ago we had a college freshman do some volunteer work in our district. Since elementary school she always wanted to be a teacher. A month into her tenure she announced she wouldn't be back and has changed her major to nursing. Why? Go back and re-read what I wrote.

Every profession requires a license or certification to prove they know what they are doing or saying. I’m sure you don’t want someone who doesn’t know what their doing perform surgery on you.

It’s not surgery…..it’s teaching music. It just keeps me from teaching in public school. I still teach

I would just say it might be the way you’re studying for the exam. A lot of people just buy random books and study guides for the exam which may not be useful because it’s not what is being assessed on the actual exam. The exams are tricky but not impossible. You just have to know exactly what you’re going to be tested on and study that way.

My daughter just recently passed that music praxis. That was a rough exam, she failed once and passed 2nd time almost got a perfect score. When she didn't study she passed. It's just luck

It is a joke and ridiculous, in my opinion, but not because I think it is hard. I do not think it accurately measures a person’s knowledge or ability to teach.

That's what I've been saying.... if a teacher can't pass her certification exams, she can't teach....some people here were at me because I spoke the truth.... no white parents with a decent IQ will want their children in a classroom where the teacher can't pass her certification exam.....

There is no logical reason as to why history teachers have to take a math test. I've taught history for two years and never included a geometry question in my lesson!

@@trubeauty973 as a Secondary Education History major, I feel this. The Math praxis is the only one I’ve got to take and it’s my worst subject.

@Lapis Manalis I’m scared that you teach at the college level because your grammar is horrible. Anyways, you don’t have to tell me twice. You couldn’t handle it. It’s not for everybody, but I will say there are people who have worked through four years of college, gotten into the TEP program, and the only thing they could not pass was the Praxis.

They have to pass 3 major test, 2 praxis tests and edpta. If the world thought like you there wouldn't be hardly any teachers.

@@erickanew I know those 3 tests you're talking about....in CALIFORNIA, the 1st test is called CBEST....to demonstrate basic knowledge..2nd...RICA.... is to demonstrate one's own ability and competency to teach reading...3rd.....CSET..... is to demonstrate expertise in the subject of teaching...... these exams are NOT hard....

@@Aikynbreusov the praxis 2 is hard. 50% pass rate tells you that. A lot of those questions it's impossible to know. My daughter took praxis 2, 3 times, passed the 3rd time maxed it out the last time and she didn't even study like she did before. After watching her I'm convinced it's basically a scam to make money.

@@erickanew CALIFORNIA has the strictest and MOST comprehensive subject-competency exams that teachers need to pass in order to be credentialed to teach in a public school setting.... the CALIFORNIA'S teacher exams are 1. CBEST, 2. RICA, 3. CSET. These tests assess the teacher's basic knowledge of ALL subjects, and areas of expertise in math, ELA, reading comprehension, social studies, science, arts, music, etc... the CALIFORNIA'S tests are SO COMPREHENSIVE that if you have a CA Teaching Credential, you can pretty much teach any where in the country, it's the most widely recognized and accepted throughout the USA....in some states, if you have a CA teaching credential, there's no need to be recertified in order to teach....in other states, you just have to take a simple test to demonstrate your competency without having to be recertified with a new credential......CALIFORNIA has THE MOST DIFFICULT TESTS compared to the rest of the nation....and yet tones of pre-teaching college students in CALIFORNIA in the teaching field are passing these tests every year...... if your daughter CAN'T pass that Praxis 2, then she HAS NO business in the education field.....I'm just being honest.....no parents in their decent intelligent minds will want their child in a classroom which they know the teacher CAN'T pass her Praxis 2.... I'm sure you don't want to go to a doctor who you know didn't pass his medical school exams....

@@erickanew if the Praxis 2 is hard and only 50% passing rate for pre-service teachers then that means the university really has screwed up these pre-service teachers....the job of a credential program is to teach pre-service teachers on how to teach and prepare for their certification exams.... the pre-service teachers are ILL- PREPARED to take the certification exams, and the university credential program is incompetent and incomprehensive with low level of rigor......this is a disaster to public K-12 education.... what a shame!!!....
