This green mantis is very beautiful and fierce. When it meets a group of hungry locusts, what's the mantis's reaction? The ending is unexpected!

Back when I taught in Columbus, Ohio, my class and I would go on nature walks during the spring and the boys would catch preying mantises like the one in this video. They'd put each one in it's own box with saran wrap covering (yes, they made sure it had breathing holes!). Then they'd catch some locusts and proceed to feed our mantis friends. Those mantises are beasts!

Mantis wouldn't had an issue since the locusts are not eating other insects,they just saw green and thought that this was a plant or something and were climbing in the mantidae! And even if the mantis was smaller im not sure if the locusts would do something to it,the mantidae eventually emerged victorious (no surprises there) because of its bigger size & its ferocious nature!

It's true. I once put a bunch of locusts in a container without any food (and no mantis) and when I checked on them several days later the dead bodies had locust-sized bites taken out of them.

I dunno why I got the chess strategy vibe here, like both sides didn't just rushing in, they calculated. The locusts calculated "this looks like leaf, but it ain't leaf, whoa better be careful!" and so was the mantis "if I take one, will the others helped it out and try to attack me?" So yeah, simple strategies but still it's a fight using brains too 🤣

Loctus usually aren't eating other insects they eat grass ,and vegetation.Mantis are overrated every time I've seen them face another predatory insect they get wrecked

Locusts not hungry enough. Their jaws could do some serious damage if they committed to it , and Mantis is more of a 1-on-1 fighter :-)

Do it very easy too look after if you have the enclosure set out have plenty of insects to provide they are pretty great little pets despite their ferocious look they rarely bite

I fed crickets to my exes pet tarantula once, I went to work, came back home to a cage full of crickets and spider legs. Never looked at crickets the same again 😵

@@eddierobledo6975 They can die of improper digestion. Basically blockage as their food was too big to eat and not broken down enough to pass through their digestive system. Happened to me with a baby dragon and crickets. I was ill informed by a pet store of all places. You're supposed to chop them into small pieces. I felt responsable especially trying to connect to it as a pet. You start judging yourself as what kind of parent you would be if you can do that to a pet.
