At 02:15AM Tuesday morning, Lehigh County 9-1-1 transmitted the box for 3332 East Columbia Street on the house fire sending Whitehall stations 38, 39, Truck 6 (LC 3631) and Medic 62.
Minutes later the police arrived and reported a working fire. Engine 4 (LC 3911) arrived to find heavy fire throughout the 1st and 2nd floors of the 2-story private dwelling and stretched a large hand line to the north side (side B) of the dwelling.
Quint 3 arrived and positioned in front of the fire building and put their elevated master stream into operation.
The second alarm was transmitted at 02:28 bringing in Engine 14 (LC 3912), Engine 5 (LC 4041), Greenawalds Rescue 11 for the F.A.S.T., Catasauqua Ladder 231, Woodlawn cascade 3292 and a second medic unit from 62.
The house was under renovation and no one was in the home at the time of the fire. Firefighters battled the fire for one hour and thirty minutes before darkening down the flames.
A bulldozer was called in to tear the structure down.

This house was a goner before they even arrived! So sad that so many people lose their homes during renovations! Absolutely love the the HD and steady video. Meaning steady hand that is. So many people cannot hold the camera still and it is all over the place. Hats off to your steady hand!

Kind of a close call with the guy in the bucket of the truck. Heavy smoke and no mask and then the fire comes through the front windows directly under him.

Wow...outstanding video! I'm not used to seeing that level of quality here. Even the local news station could learn a few things from you. The fire fighting tactics? Um, saw a few things I wondered about, but hey. they do things their way.

Great footage and camera work. I agree, "1 3/4 would've gotten a LOT more water on the fire than that 2 1/2 did. 2 1/2 is useless if you can't open it" and don't shut it down unless you have to. That heavy fire needs constant heavy water flowing on it to knock it down.

Excellent work by the first engine crew hitting the hydrant fist thing. You gotta have water to fight the fire. It seems like a lot of these videos they take way too long to establish a water supply. Good job crew!

Like that the FF's dismounted and trotted at double time speed. I'm not up on the latest as I was a Call FF last in 1982 ..but..as we transitioned from 2.5 to 4" lines the "deluge concept" was brought in, as in don't squirt and then take a look, DROWN the fire with a deluge/ ton of water, ASAP, fast and hard. Nice video work, what camera was used? (good as a sony Steadicam).
@JB91710
@JB91710 2 жыл бұрын
No, wrong! You find what's burning and quickly and safely, apply Just enough water to stop combustion. Then you surgically apply water to completely stop it from rekindling. Not as much fun and it requires thinking and a strong and responsible Work Ethic but hey, it's a Job, not an adventure.

You can get a LOT more water on the fire with a 1 3/4 and the nozzle opened all the way than you can with a 2 1/2 with the nozzle halfway open or not at all. Just saying.

4:15 You want steam? This is how you create steam. You want to stop the fire without a lot of steam? Get aggressive! Get off your ass and get up to the door or window and inset that hose inside and wave it around to put a heavy load of water on the burning material and not a Mist like these guys are. You have to Overpower the heat source not Play with it. 9:50 All that work and water and the first floor is still burning. 10:00 Look how fast a fully involved room will Stop Burning when you apply water at the ceiling so the water will splash off and cover the room like a large sprinkler head. PUT WATER ON IT! 12:50 They're done playing with it so it's time to fill the house with water until it reaches the level of the burning material.

@JB91710

Bish I'm assuming you meant 4:15. When you apply water, (I hate saying squirt. Reminds me of a squirt gun.), you have to Think of where and how it is landing. You also have to Think of what is burning and Where it is. You have to know how water works when it is applied with different size hoses. There is a Lot to think about beyond squirting water! A chimp can be trained to Squirt water.

Perhaps JB is branching out into different varieties of lunacy? I read both of his posts twice, and "deck gun" did not appear in either of them - this is a seismic shift for JB. In five more years he may realize there are different tools for different situations.

David and the Massive Loser Jasmine. Neither of you bothered to focus on 10:00 when they confirmed what I ALWAYS say in these videos. Hit the ceiling with a solid or straight stream and wave it around and the water will explode throughout the room covering all surfaces and the fire will be out in 3-5 seconds. You Both need to grow up!

If they use a dozer mean the fire (insurance) inspector can not looks later where and why the fire break out? Or the fire insurance pay after every fire? I wonder me, they have smoke alarms, I can hear them, near that house have neighbors, suddenly they have so a strong heavy fire? Why do you not interviewed the fire chief or chief for press for know more about how many firefighter, how many police was on scene and so on? Do you not shows all used fire apparatus or the house from different sides. For a news magazine was it to less information, for an emercency magazine was it to less information, but do you shows many smoke!
