Here's a pre-exhaustion technique I occasionally use for push-ups.

Another great video John, thank you, how many sets of the pec yoga block squeeze and push ups do you do in a workout ? Is there a certain app to get the monotone that you have clicking in the background? Thank you for any information and thank you for another great video

Thanks Dean 🙏🏼 I just do one set to momentary muscular failure - done correctly it is tough! The app I use is 'simple metronome' set to 60 bpm (there are lots of metronome apps to choose from).

Great work, excellent example of HIT combined with bodyweight training. Out of interest how many times per week do you do some form of activity. From your book I'm assuming theres some form of light work mobility, walks etc almost daily and resistance work when recovered.

Yep that's pretty much it - I walk and do mobility work everyday, with one maybe two HIT strength sessions per week depending upon what else I've done (eg been surfing, DIY etc).

@@johnmetcalfecoaching thank you for your reply, I'm assuming that you don't subscribe to how some who train one set to failure believe that you must abstain from any other physical activity so not to hinder recovery.

@@davidaspey9876 I think that would depend on the type of activity (e.g. slow walk Vs hill sprints)
