I guess if you only count those three races and not look at long careers like many great horses of yesteryear ran. I believe Citation was every bit the horse Secretariat was and maybe a little more. Longevity is a true marker of greatness.

It's true Citation was great in his time it's just that Secretariat broke records that may never be duplicated by another horse the way he did it . Ran each quarter mile faster than the previous in the Kentucky Derby . Set record in the BELMONT AN ALSO WON BY 31 LINKS . EACH race he lost the next race set track record .

Rich wouldn't have won this one regardless. A 24 and change 1st quarter? Way too slow. Rich needs a hot pace and plenty of distance for the pace to back up to him. The half went in 47.2 compared to the Derby's 45 and change. He wasn't going into the Belmont with the first two jewels.

That is not what happens. Each jockey rides to a general plan and in this case the instruction to Armagnac's rider was to go out hard. Sometimes this is done to help a stablemate that is better favoured and needs a particular pace but is not at its best setting that pace as it might run too fast. If Armagnac's rider was instructed to hold in the middle of the pack that is where it would have been.

Even though, like most, I was disappointed that Rich Strike didn't run in the Preakness Stakes, I believe this sets up a huge Mega-Race in the Belmont Stakes in a few weeks, why? Chad Brown, the trainer of 2022 Preakness Stakes winner, "Early Voting" held his horse out of the Kentucky Derby. Eric Reed, the trainer of 2022 Kentucky Derby winner, "Rich Strike" held his horse out of the Preakness. Steve Asmussen, the trainer of "Epicenter," the runner-up in both, the 2022 Kentucky Derby and the 2022 Preakness Stakes will likely face off against both in 2022 Belmont Stakes. Joel Rosario is one of the shittiest Jockeys to ever ride in Big Races, He looks like absolute crap on a horse, looks like a literal bobble head the way he bounces around, he genuinely looks like crap on a horse. And has no clue of fractions I guess. In the Derby he pushed Epicenter To quickly and should have Rode the Rail in the stretch instead of Going Out wide. And today in the Preakness he should’ve been more set in on the pace sitting third waiting to make a move. Extremely Overrated Joel Rosario shouldn’t be riding in these big races, there are small name jocks at cheap tracks that look 10 times better on a horse than this Joke of a Jock

Does Creative Minister have a good chance to win the 1 1/2 mile Belmont Stakes?
@salleo406
@salleo406 2 жыл бұрын
My comment is not to belittle the horses that raced in this years triple crown, it is to identify the greatness of Secretariat. A quick recap, based on time, Secretariat wins the Kentucky Derby by 16 lengths, wins the Preakness by 7 lengths and wins the Belmont by 21 lengths. He remains undefeated in any triple crown race for 49 years.
