Love your content sir. Here in Pennsylvania I was taught that the cross arm guard is a version of the Philly Shell. In a video I watched on KZfaq Tim Witherspoon also suggested this. What do you think? Finally, Evander Holyfield also used a version of the Philly Shell/ Cross Arm Guard. In my opinion he was one of the best to ever utilize the style. - Cameron Street Boxing Club, Harrisburg PA.

Really enjoy this short video you post. Not many boxing coach take time to explain the function of the stance and the guard of the hands. A lot of so-called martial arts teacher will be stuck with fundamentals, and just have their student punch themselves out on heavy bags. But the art of boxing is more complex than what they see on TV. Great video!

also about the peekaboo guard, you’re usually not in a orthodox stance. While being more squared, not entirely, the body leans a little to the right for the cross and the feet usually move together so you can pummel the opponent. If you notice Mike Tyson’s footwork, he would come in by taking his left foot first then bringing in his right every step.

@@ztoronto5011 He does it looks like. I think combining different styles make sense. Euro works well for keeping distance with jab and Foreman Style is a good all around strong defensive stance but peekaboos heavy emphasize on solid steady head/body movement is really good for avoiding being hit and combos. This is just my observation playing with these stances in a VR game and shadow boxing

Tbh the Standard guard is a good fondation to build a strong base in defense (slips, head movements etc..) and also offense. After it becomes polished, it then becomes unique to each fighter.

Over the last couple years I’ve ended up with having kind of a hybrid of Peekaboo & Philly Shell which was pretty difficult to pull off consistently and pull it off well enough considering I’ve always been “Brawler” style boxer. Because of that i obviously wasnt always great defensively and had a take a hit to land a hit mentality but that hybrid technique has ended up working out pretty well to tighten up defensively without changing my style entirely. Still working out some minor tweaks with it but my biggest flaw offensively in the past had always been my footwork staying consistent especially when coming forward aggressively during exchanges. Takes some time to get it down especially when it comes to cardio because you can get gassed out earlier but that will improve over time. I would definitely recommend trying it out.
