Heyo,
Back again with another garri video. I didn't say this explicitly but the main reason why U8 is even more predictable than U7 is because of the 200m range. There is now only so many places you can build garris. This is only opinion so let me know what you think.

Very good remark on the map not showing how sectors, capzones and strongpoints work, while these elements should be emphasized to the point that even lvl5 players couldn't ignore the info.

Since U7 I had serious doubts about how the devs understand their own game. Cause to me it seems they never saw the fun that we had with the tactical element which was actually present in the game. Because I guess they, like too many other players (who never touched SL or commander role) only see the game as just a good looking shooting and tanking game. And one of the latest devblogs about meta kinda confirms it. All of the "solutions" are just sidestepping the issue and imo the level of improvement they would bring to the gameplay doesn't really make them worthy of implementing. They come up with these arbitrary restrictions like we did not have enough of them with the "frontline" that currently is in the game and others. I want to go back where me, as a SL could've had an impact on the game, where I could have fun with the squad fighting meaningful engagements which would result in actual map control, where I was not punished for trying to flank, being thrown into the dull meatgrinder of a gameplay, or punished by having even the bare minimum of tactical thinking that forces me to do the goddamn chore of building nodes and making my way hundreds of meters somewhere just to build a garrison while nobody else does. I swear to god U9 makes it or breaks it for me. Lvl 157 or smth, close to 1000 hours and I just can not bring myself to playing again because of the things that you constantly stress out in your videos. So either the devs start thinking hard about what was actually enjoyable about the previous META (garrison in enemy territory /=/ ninja garrison) or they can continue making tactical-less game, albeit without me playing it.

This. I feel like they're going to start to lose a lot of players soon if they keep missing the point and countering the wrong things. They'll probably lose the whole current competitive community if they go too far

U5 was peak HLL, before they introduced their half-assed ballistics system and when they broke armor, introduced a new meta.... So much bullshit. I miss old HLL, and it's obvious we're not getting it back thanks to inexperienced, stubborn, literal dumbass developers that enjoy half-assing features and fixing what isn't broken.

Artillery is definitely not overpowered right now! {Insert Risitas laugh here}. No seriously. Developers, do not make artillery less accurate. Do not make the explosion radius less. Do not increase the resource load. Artillery now comes across as massively overpowered with exactly 'ZERO' changes made directly to artillery (apart from the explosion sound affect and a few external factors such as not being able to destroy garrisons). The ability to not destroy garrisons with artillery is very much an oversight on knowing the game because it encourages spawn camping with artillery. Don't punish players for learning artillery well and effectively by putting in some bull**** random range / random accuracy non-sense in the game. You are punishing players if you do this. Instead, focus on what has made artillery overpowered by changing other game mechanics. I.E. - Garrisons not able to be destroyed by artillery. Garrisons not being able to be placed into the red area. Artillery in U6 and previous was no-where near as a problem to what it is now. It was much less effective back then. The new slower gameplay, node, vehicle obsession and meat grind that most public games lead to now is what makes artillery appear to be over powered due to much more stationary targets.

U8 did in a way buff artillery by raising the node limit from 2 to 4, increasing the leading team's maximum resource production by approximately 33%/50% (depending on whether the map is 3-2 or 4-1). With resources being the main limitation to artillery's average rate of fire across a game, it means that artillery can now fire more shells per minute, thus covering more ground or bombarding the same ground more intensely.

@@BlurbFish Fully agree, but in an organised team this makes little difference. Even at a push +5's were ok for artillery at a reduced rate of fire. A one man artillery takes 7 seconds to fire and reload and switch seats. That means that it's 8 shells (essentially) per minute. 8 x 3 munitions = 24 munitions per min. A stack of +10 nodes in U6 would cover this quite easily. Furthermore this is a buff not directly made towards artillery, but instead nodes and my worry is that the dev's will then forcefully debuff artillery directly, instead of changing other areas that indirectly buffed artillery.

9:50 Yesss I thought this was a problem straight away! They could maybe return capture time to 3 mins instead of 2? It was 3 mins to cap, back when garrisons were 150m, if you remember.

thank you, thank you, thank you! HLL has changed towards casual players because there is very little meaningful tutorial on the game by devs themselves and then unexperienced players either leave or play the game simply as an fps. There are ways to make this game better, you are helping towards it.

Today, I had a Xiamin or Xiahou or however that guy was called on a server. Driving the Stuart in our HQ and shooting all tanks and repairstations. And it was either a lvl 130 random or a clan member. Both is very very sad and made me really angry... Anyway, thanks for more great content about HLL!

I'll admit...I'm one of those dirty Artillery players. Here is my tactic: Spawn SL. Hopefully squads request arty, most don't. I set up gun, range in, ask for anyone in command chat for help with spotting. If no reply or no help: Garry locations are pretty easy to predict(depending on map) pick easy targets first. Fire, check stats. If kill is obtained, continue fire, spreading right and left, up and down one tick each direction(mind the center ranging shot) until no more kills. If help calls in arty: 80 kill matches and roflstomps. Usually total domination. Since supply trucks, I've been Logistics Simulator 1944. I kinda miss arty lol. If you made it this far, cheers!

I once spawned camped a garrison on purple heart lane as the germans. My buddy and I were tank crew and were trying to stall the enemy..... then heard it.... the coin sound in one spot. Kept dropping it on said spot. Got 57 kills... fun times.....

Mate this changes just to "take the baby by the end", just because Devs want a specific outcome, iare just trash, trash, trash! This game has 3 levels of comms, command chain and necessity of spawn placement: it requires coop and RESPONSIBILITY. Such a design isn't made for a casual shoot'emUp chill! Responsibility is assumed by in built fundamentals meta! So please Devs STOP trying to make changes so the Laymen can have some fun. Make the changes for the dream you had from the beginning!!! Because the dude that is just here for the Shoot'enUp and run, that never builds a garry, he is the first guy to abandon the game for an other game... he isn't your definitive player!! The guy that tries to understand the intricacies of this game is!!! So obvious that arty would spawncamp!! Well there is no other choice! What would u expect?? The other thing is the 30sec garry in locled terry... what is that? It is still a spawn... double edged sword, protects wo is loosing but also the one who is winning!!! I dont get it. More and more i see a non-belivable narratie like: tank shells can destroy spawn but a arty shell not... just brings more misconceptions to the new players and remembers me more and more and more that i am in a game... can't keep believing the narrative... I once got banned from a server because they accused me of using a cheat that finds their spawns but in reality there aren't that many places you can hide them or the maps are VERY predictable as to where spawns are placed.

At this point, it's worth considering not to place your garrisons in the "optimal"/expected positions. I guess if they were to reduce the distance to 150, it'd probably give a lot more options. I think the added spacing from the previous 100 is interesting though as it makes defending slightly harder than it used to be, so wouldn't fully revert it.

@@bane5847 I get that to a point. I've just had far to many matches where the enemy recon team just stayed and camped the entire bloody time. And because they had a sniper rifle they could stay far out of reach with no real prospect of counter fire. Maybe I'm just very unlucky

@@bane5847 a variety really. Even the one with the arty placed on a hill we had recon picking us off at range and with no optics of our own it was just a turkey shoot. Locks down arty all match long if you try to stick it out padding some cod snipers kd ratio hah

The most predictable thing is everyone knows the maps now, if it’s meant to be a simulation, the troops didn’t know the terrain intimately, so whilst the maps are true to life, they need to be changed regularly so you don’t get to know exactly where to go.

With increased garrison distance and support role overhaul has made garrison creation even more difficult, resulting in lack of defense and general reinforcements. A public test environment needs to be utilized as an asset, not 1 event for 2 hours. The meta is the worst yet, making this is another broken update delivered too early.

It's not spawn camping it's Garry camping. Spawn is in the last line. Great video and people put garrys in the same spot. Also if the engineer built a bunker over the Garry would you be fine putting it in the open.

Thank you for the video Wild Bill! I didnt know about the 4 square rule. I thought it was by sector (as for when 1 person can count towards capping). I think after seeing what you have shown im going to take the time and mark up thr maps to better understand where things could be. Thanks again sir. EDIT: Hey Wild Bill, just a question...none of your clan mates play on opposite teams to relay information to the clan stacked team side do they? I understand YOU are not EXD and cannot speak for all EXD members...I just have to ask if you've ever heard of this happening? Had a bit of an experience on EXD server...we had 1 EXD member on our side and we were getting our asses whooped. The other team had 7 or 8 EXD members including as their Commander. After we got suspicious and kicked the EXD memebr on our team things started to get slightly better - could've just been a morale thing who knows, but it felt strange...Going to stay away from EXD for a little bit - that experience put a bad taste in my mouth! Not sure what to think about it!

Heya, nah we try not to clan stack and we actively try to counter it. Quite fun jumping in a server if we notice one side is getting rolled. We're very competitive people so if we are on other sides we're mainly trying to hunt each other haha. If anything weird happens on the server jump in our discord and let us know. I saw one of our admins posted about stacking the other day but we've got a lot of new people at the minute who might not know the etiquette.

I think artillery should be changed. Each gun should have a 10-15 minute cool down with only 30 seconds of fire time. The fire rate should be increased too. This will make people use it for it's intended purpose as a barrage tool not a cheep potshot tool on garrisons. Think about it, 3 artillery guns could run a barrage of 90 seconds total shots of 18 rounds between them. But with a well organized team, 3 artillery guns used at the same time over 30 seconds to take out tanks, garrisons and infantry to get ready for a push on point. It should take 2-3 shots to take down a garrison. Craters I want craters too, Well fox holes made by arty to help with cover to get on point in open areas. (:

This is the most productive comment here and you should put it on reddit to be seriously considered. What you are saying is been in place in another game for 10 years - WoT. First: arty is never so accurate, Second: the reload time here is rediciliously fast. To sum up - 1. Increase reload time, 2. Make it less accurate, 3. Make it possible to be damaged and be able to repair. There you go - a "positive" nerf for arty we made. :)

Honestly, a little inaccuracy on the artillery is more realistic. I would prefer them to require 2 people to operate. The game has 2 boxes on eatch side of the map that could be utilized. Just open the map up further and then make the spawns have an area where its greyed out. Simple but effective. Also add parratroopers.

How about a change such that garrisons can only be build in the previous cap zone, i.e. if we are holding columns C and D you can only build garrisons in A and B column. Then squads have to divide up in defensive and offensive roles to not loose and cap next point. Maybe also make OPs harder to kill too in this scenario.

And, the devs heard you… Arty is a random mess now. You can still shred them but you often kill your mates… horrible. Made the 100 kill achievement anyway, but you know… Update: Had an awesome match on Utah today. 203 artillery kills. Despite the randomness.

And while we’re on the subject of predictability... for the love of everything holy, please please PLEASE put randomly generated spawns in HQ. I can’t tell you how in many games I haven’t been able to spawn at HQ without someone already having their crosshairs on my head.

Artillery is only as useless , as the recon teams that are supposed to take them out. a team is supposed to be on all cylinders, communicating and telling their squads what to do. i as commander , tell my recon squad. concentrate on arty right now. and they shut them down. the enemy wastes so much time hunting down the recon (1) person, that the resources spent on the search and find mission by a squad , is the difference in attacking or defending a point successfully. the ninja garrisons were completely lame.

once again the solution to all of this is to just force people to go through a tutorial mission or something. having a very spotty field guide doesnt do shit. all these changes the devs make to stuff like this for public matches is just to compensate for their own inability to properly educate new players and "relying on the community to teach newbies". not saying the community is bad but its foolhardy to expect them to be able to adequately inform every new player. they are kneecapping their own game by refusing to have training missions that teach new players the more nuanced mechanics.
