I've been in Taiwan many times and it feels really awkward to be a young person sitting in a seat on the subway/bus and you see old or pregnant people come on the subway/bus without any seat! I automatically just stand when I go in subways because I want to avoid feeling guilty of being in a seat when people who need it more than me need it! So I can confirm that in Asia (at least from my experiences), people def will give up their seat for the elderly/disabled/pregnant. It's a given! ☺️🤍

In France, the same experience can end in a fight. I have already seen women and elders having problems because they dared to claim their priority places. In France, on buses and trains, there are places reserved for the elderly, women and / or the disabled. You can sit there but normally you have to leave your place if there is one of these three people coming in. But since we are in France, it is rare that a person leaves his place, even if he is seated in a place reserved for these three categories of person. People come to fight for it because there is no respect in our country anymore. It could even end in a stab just for asking to make room. It is for this reason that as a French, I heal when I see this. For a French like me, it's amazing to see so much kindness instinctively. The chick doesn't even have to ask anything, people get up on their own to ask her to sit in their places. It's amazing to see that when you're used to insults and fights for a "yes" or a "no".

This is why I almost just never try to take a seat in the first place, I’m young and healthy and I know someone else may need it more than me. Even if there’s a free seat, I usually try to stand and leave it open for someone who may need it more. ❤️

I live in Indonesia. A third world country. Believe me this is a very common sight to see some youngsters give seat to elderly or pregnant woman. Sometimes 3-4 people stand up for giving up their seats. And we’re proud of this culture. So one time I went to Japan and unconsciously offered my seat to elderly there, no elderly accepted it. I guess it’s different in every country

Why is it mostly men who gave up their seats for her? Women should be more considerate of each other
@misaaasa5272 жыл бұрын
I thought so too... I remember reading an article a couple years ago about a woman who broke her leg and had it in a cast for about 2-3 months. She noted that every time she got on public transport, 100% of the time it was men who gave up their seat. Not once did a single woman stand up for her. Bit sad really...

I am chinese I can explain this. From china culture Older and kids has top level of care in our sociality. We call care older love kids. Then is woman. And man should take all the responsibilty to all these people. That is what we been educated for thousands years.

@@junguo3088 I think that this is something prevalent even in many other cultures too. The article that I mentioned was from a lady living in the US.
