Haha. I have a truss video coming out next week, then a 14 bolt video. But I’ll be doing gears on these soon. I have a couple videos out in how to regear them. I’ll be doing a simpler quicker version of that this time around.

Nice work! Be careful with all the grinding and abrasive dust. Better eye protection and a dust mask might not be a bad idea... Thank you for sharing.

For sure. Tbh, I have a fan on in the background blowing it all away from me and out the garage door. When that isn’t possible I wear a mask. But it’s definitely important to protect yourself. I should probably put that in the next video as a warning to people who might not think about it!

I don’t blame you. Much cheaper all in than buying them. And the regear isn’t hard. I did videos showing how to regear them. But I’ll be doing a quicker version of those this time around.

For cutting the cast steel parts with the recip, have you ever tried the cast iron blades?! Like the ones with diamond grit for "teeth". It was night and day how much better they cut cast iron pipe, compared to a steel and/or demo blade, when I was a plumber. Love your channel man! Trying to work up the courage of trussing the M210 in front of my jlurd and your videos sure are helping with that. Cant quite do the whole 1 ton thing just yet so I figured a truss would be a good primer as I would be using a artec dana 60 truss swap if I ever do go to tons.

Hey man! Thanks for the support. Tbh I have never tried a “good” blade like you are talking about. I always end up trying cheap ones at friend’s houses and they never seem worth it. But a quality blade might make a difference. I’ll have to look into that! But as far as trussing your axle…you’ll be fine. Sounds like you can weld. And as long as you control the heat and move around…really take your time…you’ll be fine. Artec makes it very easy.

Great video! And it’s helpful for me because I am doing a one ton swap on my CJ8. I believe you will be in the same situation as me with the Dana 300 being a passenger drop. What is your plan to address this since the Super Duty Dana 60 is a driver side drop?

Heck yea! I’m also doing a Dana 300. But I’m going to purchase a flip kit. There is a pretty cool one with good reviews that I’ll be using to flip it and turn it into a driver drop. But I’ll also be regearing it to a 4:1 on the channel too. I have videos put on how to regear a Dana 60 and a 14 bolt. But I will show a shorter version of that when it comes time. Not necessarily a how to…just showing that part of the build. But the regear videos go step by step with the same detail and link all the tools I use in them as well. why do you have to get rid of the two inches of casting around the tube on the drivers side?

Great question. On the driver side of the axle there is no axle tube exposed. The only reason all that casting is there is because the factory radius arm mount also happens to be cast. So by removing that you expose axle tube for truss and axle brackets to be welded. All aftermarket trusses and brackets are designed to be welded to the tube and require it.

I can still find them down here in Texas for around $650-750. People on FB Marketplace can ask upwards of 1k. But they sit for a while. Junkyards are usually the best price. They offer a warranty. So when you are building it…don’t take it. They’ll lower the price.

Just Subscribed. I have a 92 Yj. 36 tires and straight six torque monster..lol. I want to build a mid duty rock crawler/ Mud Jeep. Im not gonna be beating this thing to death but I do want to wheel it for sure. My question is Ford 60s or Rockwells for 54" Mickey's? I really want to do the Fords since they are much lighter and i could use Chrome molly shafts. I would like to know your opinion? Thanks and love the Content step by step.

Thanks for the support! So if you are going to daily drive it…I would do Superduty Dana 60 and a 14 bolt. If you aren’t going to daily it…I’d still do the superduty/14 bolt. Rockwells are cool. But they aren’t street friendly and the aftermarket support for them isn’t there like it is for these.
