In this video I start to get the Jeep ready for our upcoming Wyoming offroad adventure. I show you what 3 years of rust looks like on a Jeep Gladiator that spends most of its time in Wisconsin. I go over how to easily fix rust. I also go over some tire wear issues and how to resolve them.

I’m in Hartland. Not really any trails nearby. But many forest roads in the national forest. Pipeline trail around Shawano county is pretty fun. We also go up north when we can.

I spray the bottom of my 2021 Gladiator with Fluid film twice a year. Ohio winters are salty messes and after 3 years of this so far the frame and other parts still look brand new. Buy the Fluid film spray gun and a gallon of film. A gallon lasts a year or so.

Been following you for a couple of years. Finally bought a low option 2023 Mojave in white a couple of months ago and really like it. Couldn't find one in Gobi. Anyway hunters probably spend more time in the woods than 95% of Gladiator owners. I'm not looking to get stuck and only use 4x4 when it's necessary. (This is my 5th 4x4). Maybe when the stock 33 Wildpeak's wear out I'll consider 35's but honestly I don't think I need them. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize the brilliant suspension. Thanks for all the video's!

Thanks for your support and comments. Glad to hear you bought a Mojave how are you liking it so far compared to other vehicles you’ve owned? I agree with you on the 33s. One thing I will say is that if you run the ones I am now you don’t add any Weight so you end up not losing any performance. I get the same gas mileage as I did with the Falken s and I gained over an inch of clearance. They are also nicer on road. So far they have performed well off road as well. Wyoming should give them a good test. I did love the Faulknsvthough. Take care!

@@MojaveTrails It's the smoothest and most capable 4x4 truck I've ever owned. My first 4x4 was a first gen 1977 Bronco which was amazing and more capable than the Mojave. But as you would expect it was quite crude compared to a new Jeep (or Bronco) and mine was the full cab, not the truck. So not really comparable. I did research your 35's and they seem to be the best tire with no negative effects to the Mojave suspension. There's another guy on KZfaq who made the same decision with his Mojave. No modifications needed and kept the stock wheels. If they still make them that's what I will get when the Falken's wear out. I'm getting about 12 mpg now but only have 700 miles on the odometer and mostly around town driving. I think/hope that will improve. I see that you're an avid hunter too so I can relate. I kinda got through the 4wd experimental phase with my Bronco and ever since then value reliability and practicality more than outright performance. But I hate getting stuck! I've only been to the woods a couple of times with the Mojave so far it's been great. I probably make 50 trips a year total to hunt and work on stands and do prep work. The logging roads can get challenging with rain and heavy logging truck use so 4x4 is necessary say a dozen times a year. The Mojave just might cut that in half! Looking forward to your WY trip!

Great stuff Dan (guessing at your name) yes rain and mud make even easy trails difficult and even impassable. Main reason I added the winch was for muddy trails during bow season and gun season. I have not yet needed it but it will come in handy the first time I do could be the difference of making it home vs sleeping in the truck or having to do a ton of shoveling. I hate mud to be honest but it’s part of the deal. Broncos are great and nothing I have ever had beats my first Jeep TJ on 33’s limited slip diff in the rear and that thing climbed the bluffs of Buffalo county WI like nothing. Snow mud ice it just went. I would live half the year in AZ and there wasn’t a trail I was afraid to do. I was also young and didn’t mind piling rocks or doing whatever it takes to get over it. My traction board design is for heavy muddy WI fields and service roads. I have deep spikes that dig into the soil so they stay in ok and you don’t shoot them out the back. You should make yourself a set if you have time great for hunting!! Take care!

@@MojaveTrails That sounds great. We typically get several multi-day freezes in North Florida each Winter but snow is very rare and never like you experience. This is my first Jeep. I need a truck bed so the new Bronco wasn't considered. The main reason I bought the 1977 Bronco was it supposedly had a wider track than the CJ-5 back in the 70's and was therefore easier to drive on logging roads. Mine also had a hardtop. I don't remember there being any factory CJ hardtops in the 70's but I may be wrong. I was a hunter back then too but mostly duck, dove and squirrels as I was obsessed with shotguns. So I didn't need a truck. Plus it was my first 4x4 and I spent a lot of time exploring the limits. It was fantastic; wish I still owned it! Anyway I'm pretty confident this Mojave is going to be great. I'm still getting used to new noises and the general manner and handling of it. It's been a long time since I've had a straight front axle but this is light years ahead of the Bronco. Part of it is the much longer wheelbase but a lot of it is no doubt modern refinement. I am a little surprised with the effort to engage the manual 4x4. The Bronco had a floor shifter too (manual locking hubs of course) but it was at least twice as long so it had more mechanical leverage. But I much prefer the manual 4x4 to electric solenoid switches as I think it's more dependable. I'll get used to the Jeep's short shifter. Other than that I hope the mileage improves as I'm getting about 12 mpg as I mentioned. Time will tell. Thanks!

@@dantimber Great to hear your getting along well with your Mojave. Putting a Jeep into 4 - low requires a firm hand. Helps to be rolling at about 1-2 mph never more than 4 mph. But there have been times in the past when I was new to it that I didn't engage it until I needed it but had the Jeep in an awkward position and could not get it in 4-low, I learned quickly how and when to do it BEFORE I needed it. Especially if your on an incline. Best of luck you'll figure it all out no doubt that's all part of the fun of owning a Jeep!

Really enjoying your channel. Just got a M. in blue and and leaning toward your choice of tires for the reasons you mentioned in another vid. (and it'd be nice not to buy special winters, but worry about snow and ice performance, esp. in BC Rocky Mountain area) and maybe bumper too. About the rust, did you purchase the rust protection package when you bought the vehicle? As I do not DIY, I would hope this does not become a problem. Thanks!

Hi Vance. Congratulations on your Mojave I know you’re going to love it! These tire’s worked great for me in the snow and they are snow rated. Of course single purpose snow tires are the best for on road snow but who really has two sets of tires anymore. I did not get the rust protection when I bought it. I probably should have at least I could take it back for them to fix if it starts to show any signs of rust. If you did you should be in great shape. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing! You guys have some amazing trails and scenery in BC and I hope to make it up there one day!
