›› In this vlog, Dali and I go to off property arena hire for some showjumping schooling. Dali is 8 years old and very big so it's taken a while for the rideability to come together. We still have some progress to make, but things are looking up!

I cannot imagine what it must feel like to be that high off the ground jumping. The best compliment I can give you is you make it look easy..... yet we all know how hard you are working! Dali has figured it all out with the help of great training!!

Wow !!!! Holly, Dali is jumping out of his socks. Beautiful, he really is now starting to look like a proper show jumper. He looks so confident going round you wouldn't think it was the same horse as this time last year. You got this girl, go out and win everything. So pleased to have you back and so looking forward to this season. Love to all. Jill. Birmingham. U.K. XXXXXXXXX

I have a serious question, please don't take this as a negative, you are a BEAUTIFUL RIDER! why is it that riders nowadays do not RELEASE or GIVE to their horse over the jumps? It seems that a horse would be more willing if they were "rewarded" for going over by "releasing" the hands so that the horses did not get "bumped" in the mouth or essentially "punished" for going over the fences. You are not the only person who does this, however I thought that I would get the best answer from a kind and gentle rider such as yourself. ❤

Holly has very steady, soft hands. You can see how relaxed her reins are after the jumps due to her very balanced seat. I do not see what you are seeing. I see a very experienced rider who has done a fantastic job training her horse.

Wow that was rather uncalled for, I was simply asking a question across the board, I didn't say one negative thing about YOU or YOUR riding (why is it that RIDERS these days) it is a practice that I have noticed with OTHER riders and I was hoping that a gentle and kind rider such as yourself maybe you could explain why that is. PERIOD. Now if you would prefer to make that about YOU or YOUR riding I just ask myself why you would even for one milli second think it was about you, did you not read the compliments on YOUR riding style? I learned to ride nearly 40 years ago, we were taught when we were jumping dinosaurs to "throw our reins away" to make certain that we did not negatively impact our dinosaurs in any way. Things are much different from before the wheel was invented and it was something that I have seen most riders do now. I am not seeing any rider doing anything WRONG it's just DIFFERENT from the way I was taught. I suppose it might be comparable to asking after watching someone ride western pleasure where the rider has MINIMAL contact on their reigns when you have ridden dressage and you maintain the CONTACT on your reins, why do riders do that? I myself also have very light hands (like you) so I find it difficult to keep constant contact (unlike you, you have very lovely hands) I love watching you ride, you are very KIND, encouraging and supportive to your mount no matter who you ride and it is lovely to see. You give them confidence by believing in them. ❤️

I love how I can compare to Holly. I too have two horses, one 5 yo and one 9. My 9 yo is like a pocket rocket that is so easily manageable between lines and my 5 yo moves like a bus. She isn’t even that big but jumps super square with her front legs and gives those massive jumps sometimes 😂 it’s super fun to learn how she manages the differences between the horses

He is quite explosive but it is strangely slow. His canter looks like he is just ambling along than wham! Up and over! A few times you looked like you might not survive the landing! I don't recall him jumping like that last year. He always looks, to me anyway, like he's not going very fast but he obviously is doing exactly what he needs to be doing because he is clearing those big fences with no effort at all. Your "little" boy has grown up! Can't wait to see Dali and Khal at their first show. Grab a hot cup of tea you are back in Ireland now. No tank tops and cockatoos!

Hi Holly I love your videos and you’ve done an amazing job with your program!!! I hope I can have a couple broodmares and do the same one day :) question… I’ve noticed in your recent videos sometimes it looks like you’re seesawing your hands on Dali. Of course I understand he’s 17.3, he’s MASSIVE, but could you clarify what’s going on with your hands? If you’re needing that much power to hold him would it be worth trying more bits instead? Asking as a horsewoman not a hater haha

Hi Holly - It's great to see you! Dali looks wonderful -- and he certainly seems to feel wonderful, too -- the tail -- I love the tail! It's like he's saying "Whoo Hoo!" over every jump. He loves it! I watched your recent update video -- and I have to admit -- although Dali is amazing -- I'm very much looking forward to seeing a little footage of Zephyr. (I don't care if he's a muddy mess right now., lol) I fell madly in love with him the first time I saw him last year. Anyway -- seems like you and your critters are having a good start to 2024. Best regards to you and yours from America. JV

Why in england, ireland, the states they call it show? Because in the netherlands, belgium, spain,france.... They call it competition, because they do shows also, but as entertainment and real show to let see what they can without competition. The crowd comes to look diferent shows, demo's and clinics. For example horse event in the netherlands with 50K visitors, but there are even more competitions, almost every week, and also high levels, like last month jumping Amsterdam in the netherlands. Now on 24& 25/2 there is flanders expo, also full of shows, if i don't mistake in Gand, (gent) belgium. Even in germany there was this month SPOGA in koln, also shows and clinics. Even esme higgs was there making a reading ot lecture about influencers on horsechannels.😊
