PREPPING FOR OVERNIGHT WOLF HUNT | RED LAKE, ONTARIO

Picked up a truck load of Wolf bait from Franklin's & now that the Wolves are consistently attending the bait site around 7:00AM & 1:00PM, it's time for an overnight hunt in the new Wolf blind!
Out of 18 boxes of bait, I compiled it into 10 full boxes. I tossed 6 onto the bait site & kept 4 to keep them around until the season closure on March 31st.
I also tossed up another trail cam along the "Legendary Wolf Trail" that Franklin & his dog Milo showed us - I hope to get the whole pack roaming this trail as they head for the bait site!
Enjoy... Because the video after this will be me hunkered down in my Wolf blind just like ‪@campingwithsteve‬ !!!!

That's awesome! I pretty much have the exact same power pack. I've boosted my sled, my ATV and even my truck a few times with it as well as a couple of other people I've helped in parking lots. And yes, always wait for the sales at Canadian Tire. Pick them up fairly cheap then. For camping I also have the 20,000 ah power packs which will last you about a week of camping to charge your phone or Go-pro etc. I love the Joel's Diner picture! That's awesome! Can't wait for the camp-out video.

Those booster packs are a LIFE SAVER!!! Especially in -40 out on the lake fishing... Its saved my butt many times. I've thought about getting one of those power banks but for now I just have a gas powered genie that I use (Not for camping specifically but yeah).

Amen... and even if it doesn't, I have learned a lot about this new pack of Wolves so that next year It will be a bit easier to get them patterened.

Snow on the ground working in a T shirt and no BUGS. That bait sight looks better. Thanks for the info on the booster pack. Can't wait till we see the camp out video.

You look pretty ready togo an all set brother.. cant wait to see the footage of the hunt. Even the waiting parts, we all know patience is the key here lol.. I use the norco g20 power pack for boosting if needed an charging whatever. Works deadly.. 👌

Amen to that - Overnighter videos are coming out in the next couple days. Gonna do a few more nights before season ends - We just got dumped on for snow... Looks like I can get the snowmobile out of storage again LOL

Have you thought about an electric bike with a cart? That is what we use to get into our camp in Spring...Couple of springs are surface water slews that wash out the road close to camp...

Electric bike, thats a great idea!!! I know they have "fat bikes" which are also electric. Although even as close as I am walking distance from my truck to the bait site, I would rather go gasoline than electric... At least I can fix a gasoline ATV or snowmobile out in the field, where if anything goes wrong with an electric unit, I'm screwed!

Good idea but I can’t introduce a species that isn’t native to this area, or else it could affect the ecosystem eventually. The Lake Trout in Red Lake have a hard time spawning due to nearby mining activity so we have to be careful with those types of things. I’ve heard this creek does hold fish though… I’m curious if the walleye run it to spawn in the spring!

How cool is that to find a drawing at the diner ! The new bait set up looks like it’s working ! Although I am a little concerned that you are just leaving potential wolf binds on the pile to be destroyed 😂😂 I can’t wait for the first episode of bait pile banter ! That blind looks like it’s going to be comfortable you might need to get one of those cots for next season double as a bed and bench . The clips of the eagle were awesome bud . Good luck with the overnighters !!! Oh and when is the how to train a chickadee video coming. You have quite the following out there lol

Oh man, I know... now that the snow is gone I have to take the saw back in & cut them right flush with the dirt. Going to wait until Wolf is over to do that though. We just got 20+ inches of snow...... so..... will be a bit before I cut them now LOL God bless brother!!!

beauty nice weather, early spring has anyone seen any bears yet? The reason i mentioned bears is to give you some relaxing thoughts while your sleeping by your bait pile, Take care 😊👍🐻

No Bears yet!!! But we will be getting double digit warmth here this week, so they may pop out in the next week or two!

What a great day in the bush man, can't wait for the overnighter. I haven't seen any bears yet but I've been working on my bait sight and the hunt starts soon! Hearing that chainsaw in the background was a bit disappointing lol...when I go into the bush I'm always a little bummed out/irritated if another human is around. Still better than doing just about anything else though. Good luck brother!

LOL I know right - It was nice meeting the fellow out there, but yeah... I assume the dogs did not hit the bait because of his activity out there. It isn't normal for me to hear anything or see anyone out here so thats a first. Luckily he is done his wood harvesting until next year! Bears will be out once we get some nicer weather & the nights are warmer - I'm sure you are aware, but go look for the greenery... Green grass, weeds, things sprouting, etc... The Bears will be on veggies first, then their "plug" will be removed & then they will be onto meat/berries/insects!

@@valhallaawaits6889 Look specifically where the sun rises & sets... The areas where the sun hits the most during Spring days, the Bears will be... Why? Because the sun will melt all of that areas snow first, dry the ground water & allow the grass to grow FIRST... VS. areas that are more shaded will grow later in the Spring due to late thaw. I always focus on southern facing slopes, or in general, southern facing areas because it will see the sun more in a day than any other area.

@@PatterningNature Oh man you may have just forced me to re-evaluate my current bait spot lol. I'll check the camera for awhile and see what happens and if anything I'll learn a lesson for fall bear or next spring's hunt. If it goes well I'll send you pics! Appreciate you brother!

I hear you... We decided to hold off on getting an ATV until next year. Just couldn't bring ourselves to spend any more money than we already have this year LOL As much as I see money as a tool to move forward... You still gotta be responsible with it & its good exercise walking back & forth to the bait!

Give or take, 65-70 feet, or roughly 20-25 yards.

Hey I didn't see your comment on the archery video - I know you can purchase trail cam holders that screw into trees, but the straps work just as well! What do you think?

Always enjoy your adventures in the great north woods! The Ravens are fun to have around and probably a good indicator when a 4 legged critter is coming to the bait. Good luck and hope you get a big old Wolf!

You are 100% correct. Typically, in my experience, the ravens will go from foraging on the bait, to flying up into nearby trees once a big dog comes into the area. Every Wolf I’ve shot off a bait, the Ravens do this EXACT same thing so it’s something to remember!!!
