I planted stevia in a pot. It makes fine white flowers on thin stems that flop over. These I let rest in a new pot filled with soil while still attached to the mother plant. Soon these develop into new plants as the small stems take root. Then I cut it free from the other plant and move it.

A super easy way to dry your stevia is leave it on the branches and place it in a warm/hot vehicle. Then when dry just grab the stem and pull while gripping the stem with the other hand (or through a hole of a colander). You end up with a big pile of dried leaves that I store in a canning jar. One note with stevia is that "more" is not necessarily better. If you use too much stevia in tea, etc. Then you can get a bitter taste. I grew it in a self watering pot to reduce worry about water needs. When it starts to want to bloom, pinch back or harvest that branch. Even when it died down in winter here in California, it came back the next year. Super easy to grow, harvest, and use.

A friend of mine grew it here in Florida, outdoors, and then cut the whole stalks, put together with a thin rope and hung from a curtain rod to air-dry. He does have a dehydrator but the air-drying process worked well.

I grow organic Stevia and pick a few leaves and put them in my gallon jug of homemade sun tea. The longer that you leave the leaves in your tea (maybe a day or more ) the sweeter your tea becomes.

Stevia is my new adventurer to grow, thanks! For those who don't have a green thumb you can also purchase dried stevia leaves, add oxygen absorbers in an air tight jar like mason jars to store. There are handed crank grinders also. Knowing sustainable skills for a grid down situation will truly be worth more than silver and gold! Thank you for listing everything you used in this video because it's so helpful.

I have a pot if stevia I have been growing for several years. I boughr the plant at Lowes one year and it has been in the same large planter since then. It has flowers each year, it burns brown during winter and comes back out each spring. I bring it inside during winter and place it outside adter all frost is gone. I have not used it, but will this year after watchingvthis vedio. Tks, Christa. I have used purchaed powered stevia for years in everything, from cereal to cooked desserts. It is wonderful. God is so good to provide everything we need in nature.

The sweet-leaved raspberry (Rubus suavissimus) also has the same use, which is also frost-resistant compared to stevia. According to traditional Chinese medicine, it is used to make a medicinal drink known as Sweet tea Tian-cha. The raspberry version of steviol, called rubusoside, provides the sweet taste of the leaves of this raspberry.

I grew it from a plant I found at Walmart! It grew like a weed -here in Florida - no problem, no work. It was knock your socks off sweet! But I never thought to dry it and steep with it - I have no idea why. I thought I had to process it somehow into white powder like it comes at the store so after that first year. I just never grew it again. Now that I'm diabetic, I will try again armed with the knowledge I can dry and crumble it so easily. Thanks so very much!

A good option for quick and safe drying is using a veggie steamer basket within a small pressure "cooker." Just place the entire stalk with leaves intact in the steamer. Pile them on in a single (or double) layer basket. With other cooking going on, place the pressure cooker on a previously hot range, and leave the pressure valve off. This allows the heat, pressure, and humidity to naturally vent off. The heat and excess water is steamed off, while steam-opening up the cell walls, allowing a full dehydration. When you hear (and see) no more venting of air and steam, the dehydration is done (faster than a dehydrator). Allow the cooker to cool down, and open up, ... and remove the basket with all the dried product. The leaves will be bright steamed green and dry, no browning, and no loss of calories or nutrition. Strip the leaves from the stalks (easier when dried) onto a plate, then crush/blend into the desired consistency. I use the smallest Presto (stainless steel 8# or aluminum 3 1/2#) 4 quart pressure cooker www.pressurecooker-outlet.com/Presto-Pressure-Cookers.htm With a Bed, Bath, Beyond Kuhn-Rikon double layer steam basket (removable top basket) www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/kuhn-rikon-2-in-1-steamer/1044726775?Keyword=kuhn%20rikon%20steam%20basket Can use this method for any other drying of herbals and vegs. If you went into creating your own essential oils, then this process with water steam-distilling (steam bathing) of herbs also works great. Place the steam basket into water up above the herbs. Close and use the vent pressure valve. Heat up, steam, and allow to cool down. The oils will be infused into the water. Lift out the basket and herbs, allowing them to drip dry. The oils will cool down and separate from the water. The oils can then be easily removed from the water surface and bottled.

I had peppermint and stevia. They died in our drought because they were out of the way..... My kids would ask to eat the bubblegum plants. They would pick one of each plant and chew them together. It's like having DoubleMint Gum. They would decide to spit out at the end or swallow. They knew it was okay to swallow so they did that mostly. I'm looking for Stevia plants this year and I need to transplant my Mint into a better place. We're going to be under drought conditions again so I've got to get some irrigation in place. Thank You for such a great and helpful video as always.

This is my first year growing Stevia and I have loved this plant. Could you do a video on collecting the seeds for next years harvest?
