Just a suggestion when you’re making sauerkraut, you will want to put the crock that you’re making it in outdoors and away from where you come in and out of your house and no place close to windows this stuff when it starts fermenting will stink really really bad and you’ll swear that something died outside my parents used to ferment and make their own Kraut When I was a kid so just giving you a warning that it’s going to stink so you don’t smell up your house just letting you know happy sauerkraut, making

That food processor...lol.. I have one just like it that I got when I was 17 in 1972. It worked great just until a few years ago and I had to replace it. And I used it a lot. But I kept it because it actually still works. Not so much for big jobs anymore but fine for small things.

I like the idea of naming the sour dough starter "Self" and the logic you used about getting rid of self and filling up with God's Word. You need to tell us how you made the starter. I didn't know Cole Slaw could be canned. I'm interested to know how it turns out. Hope you have a wonderful time away.

Id be curious to know if the ones you left I. Garden will taste even better after they get some cold or frost on them. I know they like cold weather so I’m sure they will be fine. Ive always heard cabbage is like greens, better after a frost. King of greens, id love to see your garden. I remember you planted greens and wondered how they were doing. Im ready for a pot of greens and cornbread!

I watched the Veggie Boys (PA) make sauerkraut for their farm market and all they used was salt & cabbage. They weighted the pails down though, fermented 6 weeks I believe but it was in 5 gallon buckets. Cabbage that has been through one frost is sweeter.

loving everything about your channel - in the UK we don't can so much like you do - I make pickles and jams and chutneys/cordials etc - when I was younger and inexperienced, I tried to make bramble jam from foraged blackberries however it wouldn't set at all - so I thought I would just bottle it and use as a cordial come wintertime. It set ! every tried to get jam out of high necked bottles !!! a learning curve ! x

Hi Leslie...I remember my dad making sauerkraut in a large crock and he had an extra garage that was a storage building he put the crock for the cabbage. I never heard of a fermentation kit? My dad would just put a large plate to weight down the orang and let it set. Leslie I never heard of canning cole slaw won't the Cole slaw just turn to sauerkraut by adding salt? Enjoy your getaway. God Bless LuvYa! Bye from Ohio

Hey Leslie. Just finished this video & your first day of your trip. Sorry I haven’t been watching. We have really been busy with doctors appointments & getting ready to start my hubby’s treatments. I really liked your pickled slaw. I made sauerkraut myself this past Sunday. This was my second time making it. I did go to the Farmers Almanac & checked the signs for when to make kraut. I had 2 heads of local grown cabbage. I ended up with 2 1/2 quarts. I’m so proud cause it is already bubbling so well. I think cause the house is warmer cause I’m running the heat. I tell you what, I never knew how much better homemade kraut could taste & it’s so good for your gut health. Have fun in Boone. Love y’all! ❤🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️😊😊😊
