Thank you for the recipe. My pepper plants were fruitful this year and you have inspired me to try canning. I made my very first batch of pepper jelly. I followed your recipe to the tee and it came out to be 7 half pint jars and they are awesomely delicious. If anyone is looking for the Pomona's pectin, I found it at Sprouts farmers market, it's a market chain in Southern California.

Hey Kim, am so glad you posted this video when you did! I have been harvesting my peppers and have looked forward to making both relish and jelly with them. My luck with getting the jelly to set properly in the past has been poor. I think because of the high capsaicin levels of the peppers. So when I saw you using the Pomona's Universal Pectin, I figured I would give it a try. Luckily, we have a health food store locally that cares that pectin. Sent my hubby for 3 boxes...not cheap here in CT...$4.75 a box. But as I found out, the stuff works well for making our favorite hot pepper jelly, and since each box can be used for multiple batches, the price is justified. For the first time in a long time, my pepper jelly has successfully set to a consistency that I love. Thanks for recommending the Pomona's!

Hello OmgKittys - I felt the same way when I first tried canning - I got my canner from a garage sale and only use if for pepper jelly. You could use a big stock pot if you don't have a canner. It's really pretty easy - just make sure you have new lids to get a good seal each time you make a new batch. You will love the pepper jelly - it's so amazing and friends LOVE getting it for gifts! Let me know how yours turns out!

I would love to make this but I have a few questions. Do you leave the seeds in? Which peppers are you using? We grow Habaneros, Jalapenos, Anaheims and Bananna peppers. Do you use green, red or yellow bells? I cant wait to try this... Thanks so much.
@CaliKim29
@CaliKim29 9 жыл бұрын
Barbara Finley I do remove the seeds before I chop the peppers. And I use whatever peppers I have in my garden. A mixture of hot and sweet. I believe for the sweet peppers I used Jimmy Nardellos, Golden Marconi, orange bell,. For the hot, purple jalapenos, poblanos, hot bananas. But you truly can use whatever you have in your garden or can find at the store. Let me know how it turns out, Barbara!
