Seems like a good lad. Good speaker. Sounds confident. Hopefully he gets a run against Hungary and Portugal to show his worth.

He said he's fully committed to Ireland. Now prove the fans wrong. We're glad to have you here and be part of the squad.

Lets hope he gets a game in the prem next year with leicester

He's been warming the bench behind 37 year old Vardy all season, obviously he's not going to be anywhere near starting in prem

Listen if an englishman with some sort of irish background who can't get in to the english senior side comes in and fully commits to the cause, that should be good enough. This nonsense with the media and some irish fans drives me up the wall. As an irish fan i don't care that grealish or rice play for there country
@barrydonoghue722Ай бұрын
You don't care that every good underage player who has played for Ireland in the last 15 years has gone to England? Okay, that's cool. Personally, I'd rather have an entire squad full of Irish players, born and raised in Ireland and who consider themselves 100% Irish, than to have a bunch of English, Scottish & African rejects who only use our country and it's football team as a platform to try and increase their own personal profile. Rice & Grealish were rejected by England underage and they both took advantage of Ireland to try and boost their profiles, Same with McGeady & Scotland. Most of these African players, they wouldn't be good enough to start for their own countries, and so they think taking a 45 minute flight to play with Ireland is better than taking a 6 hour flight to warm the bench for their own country. If you see no problem with this, then you're crazy.

Don't get me wrong, in the 80's & 90's we had some quality English players playing with us, and the FAI took advantage of the fact that these players wouldn't have warmed the bench for England and so they were brought over. It's impossible for a foreign player to show the same passion and effort playing for a country that they weren't born in, the likes of Tom here, do you think he'll care if we lose a regular game? Absolutely not, not as much as an Irish person would, Tom obviously wants to win games either Ireland and get to major tournaments, but not because he has any passion for Ireland, it's because it'll boost his own profile.

I don't have a problem with Grealish but i do with Rice , at least Grealish rejected senior call ups and took time to make a decision. Rice on the other hand took 3 senior caps from other players and jumped ship to England. Cant stand that snake 🐍.

He turns up and they start asking about nothing but England, annoying and I'd imagine it's very irritating for Cannon himself
@kevinhiggins5940Ай бұрын
@JCNF50 to be fair, that's the story. His agent could have cleared the air a year ago but instead fueled the speculation. They also welcomed him to the senior set up, asked him about McAteer, his season with Leicester and his family back in mayo + Galway. So if you watch the full thing you'll see they covered a wide range of things

From Everton academy. Went to Preston on loan and scored a few goals now at Leicester. Good player.

It's a shame the national Irish team are going for a non Irish set up. The good old days!

Ask yourselves, if this guy was Harry Kane level and not bench warming in the championship level, would he still have chosen Ireland. The answer is of course he wouldn't, he'd be playing for England, thats obvious. He obviously just got told that he has basically zero chance of ever playing for England and that if he wants international football he'l have to go to Ireland. FAI have ruined football in this country
