Press the green button again to turn the blue crank back.
Red spring pin moves in X-shaped groove of the blue cam.
The groove has different depths that ensure the pin moves as shown in the video.
This video was made at the request of a KZfaq viewer.
The reverse stroke of the blue button is caused by the force of the blue spring, so it is fast enough to pass the intersection of the cam groove.

In cases where it's appropriate I've seen follower shoes/shuttles used to address this issue, but I don't know what they're called. While trying to find out I thought of this solution. The cam channel could have a v groove, and the follower would need to swivel and be tipped with the long edge of a triangular prism shape. The corners would need the groove to flatten out and have an asymmetry to guide the follower back into the groove at an appropriate angle.
