@@user-ro3nt5qu9v I know that I'm late to the conversation, but I had no trouble hearing or understanding her. And I'm certainly not saying that you didn't. I have had some videos that the volume the used when to posting, or however that works, was low. But on a few occasions it seemed that most if not everyone else has no trouble. About 2 weeks lateri babe across it again and I could hear it fine! Then some videos I can't even hear enough to try to much through it. I'm not a tech savvy person much less a guru and don't understand much with these things. I just thought I'd throw that out there.

@@argeliaanchondo9907 I think she said that it was a Presto brand canner. If you find an old one that has a rubber seal in the lid, just buy a new seal and you can take the gauge to be checked somewhere. Look up the company online that makes the pressure cooker and they can help you with that.

Hi Becky! Love your channel! I'm an apartment beginner homesteader. These beans were my first pressure canning experience. I used pint size jars and found on an other video those need to be processed 75 minutes ( vs 90 minutes for your quarts). Thought I'd add this here as it took me a bit to find the information! Keep going! Huge fan and I'm learning a lot from you 🙂

1/2 cup in a pint. I have been canning every kind of bean I had in my pantry, dried. As I never use them from dry. Love just opening a jar that are ready to go. I grew a bunch of different beans for dry last summer. And they were so fun that I'm growing a bunch more this summer. And I canned all of the different ones I grew last year and will do so again this year. Happy canning everyone!

A great video, and canning dry beans could be a fantastic wintertime canning project, and you can enjoy the heat from the kitchen! Hope to see a video of you using them or recipe with them. I think I would have still used a tad or so of salt in canning them, not so much for flavor salt adds a level of preservation too.

Oh WOW! Thank you for this. Several things, I have a glass top stove as well. I haven't bought a pressure canner because someone told me you couldn't use it on there as it would not support the weight, can / could cause the stove top to crack for break. The other is that my little sister's favorite thing was my mother's canned pinto beans. After she passed and we were dividing the foods in the root cellar there was just one quart jar of the beans. Between the six of us we all knew without a doubt, that perious jar was for Teresa. Now, I can surprise her with mine after watching this video. Thank you again! 💖

I only do pints because I live alone. I put 3/4 pint of dried beans in my pint jars . Since I use that many beans I do soak in hot water for a time so they will swell in pan not too much in the jar. It’s worked for me. On the bottom of my jar before I put beans in I put a 2” square of bacon in. No other seasoning . Ty

2 reasons: 1. Having the convenience of using the beans like a store bought can of beans - it’s on your shelf, ready to open & heat so you can cook with it or serve it just warmed up in 10 mins. Dried beans have to soak overnight & be cooked for hours to be able to use them. Doesn’t make them convenient to use at all. 2. Dried beans only keep on the shelf in their dried form for a couple years. After that, they don’t rehydrate well & after a long time soaking & cooking, they just don’t soften up completely anymore. Many people can their dry beans when they start to get old…which extends their shelf life another 18 months +.

Thanks for the video, you present very well and provide great information. You mentioned preparing your salsa in the Presto pot - please do some reading on cooking in aluminium pots. They should not be used for direct food preparation due to the likelihood of aluminium leaching in to the food and the potential adverse health effects. This is especially so for high acid foods like tomatoes, salsas, sauces etc. There is no problem at all with canning in an aluminium pot though. I hope you take this in the manner intended - your kitchen, your rules so not trying to tell you that you are doing wrong, but hope you will do a Google search or bit of research on cooking with aluminium. Please keep up the wonderful videos.

I notice that you also have a glass top stove. I am new to canning and also have the exact same pressure canner. I have never used it. I was under the impression that I had to have a gas stove to use that canner so I invested in a Nesco electric pressure canner. I am inspired to try to use the Presto on my stove after seeing this (and a little nervous). What has been your experience using the glass cooktop? Any problems or tips?

The all American pressure canner is not supposed to be used on a glass stove from what I've heard because it can break the glass. Just something to keep in mind and do research on your specific stove 🙂

We've been using our all American on a glass stove and so far no disasters but haven't doubled up the jars ...our canner can fit 14 quarts but have only done 7 at any time

Hi hope this is not a stupid question. I have never canned beans before. Do you use them straight out the jar like supermarket tins or do they have to be cooked?

Hello :) First time canning! I did this today. Same canner, same size, same time, same type of beans. I did 10lbs mostly (sometimes it went higher and I adjusted the heat--my gas stove burns way hot even on the lowest setting). I'm at a less-than-1000ft elevation. Do you think 10lbs is OK or am I going to poison people?! When I took them out, some were hissing. Normal? Also, there's lots of water near the top. Can we put in more beans next time? Also, I did not put hot lids on (I did clean and dry them, but didnt know I could put them in warm water). Problem? Lastly, I was surprised to find there were still 3qts of water in the canner! I will do a saltless batch next time! Thank you for your video and any advice/info you (or anyone) can provide.

How do you like the beans using this method? I do the quick soak method for an hour then bring the beans back up to a boil in clean water before canning. I have been happy with the results doing this but now I’m curious to try the no soak method.

I'm new to canning and my wife and I attempted beans last night everything looked great when we finished however when we looked at them this morning almost all the water evaporated overnight. Are these still good?

It didn't evaporate it just absorbs into the beans. Their fine.

I have put off buying a pressure canner because I have a glass top stove. Aren’t you worried that the combined weight of the canner, produce, jars and water might damage or break your stovetop?
